About

 Margarita "MH" Hernández León is currently representing clients before the Immigration Court in Deportation Proceedings, including Cancellations of Removals, Criminal Waivers, and Asylums. She represents clients in family-based petitions and employment-based visas, including J visas and J waivers. Moreover, MH assists clients with DACA applications, I-601 and I-601A provisional waivers, Citizenship, etc. Ms. Hernández is also helping small and medium-sized businesses with I-9 Compliance and E-Verify. Margarita is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas; all courts of the State of New York; the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York; and all the courts of Mexico. Ms. Hernández worked at Donovan and Watkins, a Willis Group Corporation, as an Attorney-Supervisor in the largest environmental disaster litigation in U.S. history. Margarita has supervised up to 65 E-Discovery attorneys in a very challenging, fast-paced, and demanding work environment, where the fast turnaround of document review projects is the standard. Prior to joining Donovan and Watkins, MH worked for Superior Review and Huron Consulting Group, and participated in several diverse projects. Margarita also actively worked in the area of Immigration, including Deportation and Removal Proceedings, for The Vega Law Firm and Sharma & Associates. In Monterrey, México, Margarita was a Criminal Defense Attorney and collaborated as a Legal Consultant for different Maquiladores in Nuevo Laredo, in the areas of Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and professional Training. MH received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1999, from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, in Mexico. Ms. Hernández’ doctoral dissertation was based on International Law and was entitled, “The Concept of Sovereignty: Theoretical Aspects and Practical Considerations in International Law.” It should be noted that MH was the sole student in her class of 250 doctoral candidates to present an oral dissertation. She also earned an LL.M. for Foreign Scholars, in 2007, from the University of Houston.
