Margaret was excellent in getting my divorce completed. She was professional and kept me updated every step of the way. She helped with filing the needed paperwork for my ex-husband to represent himself. Her fees were reasonable. She explained everything clearly. I felt very well represented in my divorce.
It's taken me awhile to get to this, but Margaret was both diligent and efficient in representing me. She has a great understanding of divorce and the courts, and represented me with my best interests in mind through the entire process. She was kind and understanding in what was a difficult time in my life. She billed fairly and did not undertake any work or expenses that were unnecessary or frivolous.
My parents had been going through the divorce process prior to hiring Margaret. Their other lawyers were asking for more and more money- and were not advancing on the case. After being referred to Margaret- I can say that my parents are FINALLY divorced!! She was professional, kind, patient, and understanding. Their divorce was collaborative- and she was very clear with my parents about what she needed and when. It went so smoothly, and we could not be more pleased. Thank you Margaret!
I am the only person in my family to go through a divorce so I had no one to help guide me and no one that understood it all. I also have two small children that mean the world to me. I am truly grateful that a friend recommended Margaret. The divorce was smooth. She listened to my concerns and was able to put them into our parenting agreement. Margaret advised me and was willing to take the time when I needed her to help me understand the current situation relieving my fears. She was prompt and always professional and compassionate in her responses. After just a few meetings I knew I could trust her. She validated that trust by guiding me with decisions that would effect me in later years, of which at that time, I was unable to see. Still to this day, almost two years later, I re-read the agreement and see things I would have missed without her having mine and the kids interests at heart. The advice and representation of a lawyer are not cheap. And the price of my littles are priceless. It was fair and reasonable. I would have paid double of what was asked for the warmth of what was offered. Thank goodness I didn’t have to. Being a single parent is expensive enough. I would and have highly recommended Margaret for divorce with or without children. And I am so grateful for the work, time and commitment she put in.
I had not idea about collaborative divorce and all of its benefits until I was referred to Margaret. She was professional, direct, and compassionate, while assuring me that a smooth and fair and non-adversarial divorce was achievable. Given the circumstances that surround divorce, especially with kids involved, Margaret understood as a mother herself, how important it was to achieve this outcome. Margaret was true to her word, gave excellent advice and made herself available to both myself and my ex to answer questions and provide guidance. She was timely and thorough and even after the process was over, remained available to answer follow up questions and provide guidance. Margaret quoted her costs accurately and was more concerned about a smooth and fair process than unnecessary and expensive work. Not only did I have the best experience one can under the circumstances, I have referred friends to Margaret who have had similar experiences with her.
Margaret worked with me closely, to provide the type of divorce I wanted. She laid out the steps and cost, up front, and met my expectations at every point in the process. In addition to being professional and efficient, she was personally very supportive. I would recommend Margaret to anyone who must go through this process.
I interviewed several collaborative lawyers over the phone and person. Margaret Zuleger stood out to me as having a complete understanding of my options and laid out a plan that enabled me to navigate the rough waters. Margaret walked me through the process and gave me an clear idea of what to expect down the line. While I struggled with the many decisions that needed to be made she would remind me to take it one day at a time. One of the most challenging aspects of my divorce was the custody issue. Everything I read said I was going to have to submit to the "standard" custody agreement in the state of Illinois. It meant not seeing my child for long periods of time. It was Margaret that came up with a great alternative that enabled me to gain equal custody and equal time with my child. That alone has been a significant positive aspect of my divorce. With Margaret everything is on the table and up front. No games. No pressure. She offered up consultants for financial and mental health which was nice to know was available. She responded both by email or by phone within 24 hours. I truely felt that Margaret had my back. If you're reading this review then your probably considering heading into the rough waters. I can sincerely say that going through a divorce isn't easy for either spouse but it sure was a blessing for me to have Margaret Zuleger by side.
I was so fortunate to find Margaret through a mediator who recommended her. I met with 2 other lawyers and did not find them as a lawyer who was focused on my best interests. She took the time to understand the facts of my case and what was important to me. Margaret gave solid advice based on Illinois law. Divorce is not easy regardless of the circumstance. Margaret made me feel like I was her priority. She returned my many "stress" emails in a timely manner. Margaret came to court organized and well prepared. Margaret's quote for this divorce was within a few hundred dollars. I have friends who spent 10s (and 100's) of thousands on their divorce with terrible lawyers. For all you who want your lawyer working for you, for your best interests and not taking you for a ride, contact Margaret. I've recommended 3 people to Margaret. One is happily working with her on her high profile divorce. The other 2 are preparing to move forward. My best advice is to have a consultation with Margaret. She is not working out of a plush, costly building. So don't let her office deter your opinion. It's just her clients are more important than drawing you in on materialistic things. You won't be disappointed. I don't know if you can ask questions on this site, but if so, I would be more than happy to give you more insite on my exceptional experience with Margaret.
I hired Margaret when I was going through a totally unexpected divorce after a very long marriage. She is very knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate. At a time when my life was in total disarray she guided me through the proceedings, and made sure that I understood what was going on and what the outcome would be. She also was very fair with the fees she charged, and actually owed me money back when everything was settled. I really appreciated her honesty and support.
I am broke after less than two years after finalizing my divorce thru Margaret Zuleger. My trust is gone. My company was signed over to my ex husband as part of the divorce. I received no income in 2015 or 2016 despite working in 2015 and 2016 for my company which due to Margaret's incompetence he controlled. I paid capital gains tax on all stocks and bonds sold from my trust to pay for our divorce in 2016. I paid over $20,000 to Margaret after the divorce was finalized...... I pay and I pay and I pay and I now have no savings and have two credit card maxed out. He continued with his false narrative of me being addicted to drugs and alcohol despite my taking a tests, urine, blood, and hair. She spent so much time making professional connections at my expense without benefit to me. It has been 18 months since our divorce was finalized and I have no savings with my UNALLOCATED MAINTENANCE for my son and I set at less than 25% of his income(it was based on his estimate). Margaret allowed his attorney to write the entire divorce decree. She dropped the ball so many times and continued to believe that by not holding him accountable ( no deposition despite my having proof of his kick back checks) that he would do the right thing. She continued to compromise on my behalf (I lost out) believing he would do the right thing despite my repeated protest. ONLY GO WITH MARGARET IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE ALL OF YOUR SAVINGS, YOUR KIDS ARE NOT IMPORTANT, AND/OR YOU ENJOY CONSTANT FINANCIAL REMINDER OF HOW YOUR EX HAD THE BETTER LAWYER. Go with Margaret Zuleger if you want to give your ex a pass! She is the lawyer I wish the EX had.
