Rick J. Wittmer joined Levin& Perconti as a litigation associate in October of 2007. Afterearning his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2005, hegained his trial experience at Bruce Farrel Dorn & Associates, acivil defense firm specializing in the litigation of catastrophicpersonal injury lawsuits arising out of motor vehicle and constructionaccidents, slip and falls, dog bites and residential fires. Rick’sthorough knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry’spolicies, procedures and mindset will be a tremendous asset to theclients served by Levin & Perconti. Since joining Levinand Perconti, Mr. Wittmer has been involved in the investigation,development and litigation of catastrophic personal injury and wrongfuldeath lawsuits. He has assisted in trial preparation and negotiationfor a number cases involving auto and boating accidents, nursing homeabuse and neglect and medical malpractice. He prides himself inproviding each client with respect, compassion and zealous advocacy. Priorto pursuing his ambition of becoming a trial lawyer, Rick earned hisBachelor of Arts in English from Drake University in 1993 and taughtmiddle school for eight years at Plato Academy, a private elementaryschool. Rick continues his involvement in youth education by servingas School Board President at Plato Academy. In his third consecutiveterm, Rick dedicates his critical thinking and problem solving skillsto shaping tomorrow’s leaders. Mr. Wittmer was a Dean’sScholar at The John Marshall Law School and a member of The JohnMarshall Trial Competition Team. While attending law school, Rickclerked for the firm of Brigitte Schmidt Bell, P.C. Litigation andMediation and interned with the Cook County State’s Attorney's Officein the Civil Litigation Bureau. He also served as a Judicial Extern forthe Honorable Charles P. Kocoras, Chief Judge of the Northern Districtof Illinois.A lifelong athlete, Rick completed his firstmarathon in the historic 30th Annual Chicago Marathon to benefit acharity that provides sports programs to underprivileged children. Hepassed the Illinois State Bar Exam in 2005 and holds licenses topractice in both Illinois State and Federal Court. Mr. Wittmer residesin Chicago.
