Met with Marc and was given the wrong information right off the bat. He didn't know his exemption amounts for a chapter 7 section 704 bankruptcy even though he kept saying he has been doing these for 15 years. This information didn't come out of course until after we paid him a retainer of $500. When I expressed my concerns of hiring someone who I later found out did not know the code procedures or laws and asked for my money back, his response was that $500 has been eaten up already. I said we had an hour meeting and you weren't going to do anything until he received our fully filled out packet that took over 3 hours to complete, which by the way was outdated, asked for 2012 and if filed yet 2013 tax returns. I know it's shame on me for not doing more research prior to hiring and paying him, but folks, do some research and don't ever believe that someone is all knowing of the law because they sign their names with esquire at the end of it. Just like getting a second opinion from doctors, do the same with lawyers before giving them any money.
