About
Currently I am a senior executive attorney for the North American arm of Rolls-Royce plc, the British power systems company. I co-lead lead Rolls-Royce’s Defense & Aerospace legal sector, providing counsel to a $2.4 billion dollar aviation manufacturing business managing all government investigations, litigation, intellectual property, and advanced sciences division. I have experience working for an international corporation, counselling Rolls-Royce North America business sectors stretching globally from Canada to Brazil. Moreover, my managerial experience ranges from leading large divisions (100 people or more) to smaller units. In the four years I’ve been working at Rolls-Royce, I have led some of the highest profile matters facing the company, including investigations by various government agencies around the world (e.g., the UK’s Serious Fraud Office; the US Department of Justice; the Pentagon’s Inspector General, Suspension and Debarment and DARPA offices; the US State and Commerce Departments’ Export Control offices; Brazil’s CENIPA; the Ministries of Defense of Israel, Poland, Australia; and the FAA. Prior to my current position with Rolls-Royce North America Inc., I served as COO and General Counsel for Green Advantage, a national organization administering exams annually for the construction industry. In 2003, I was appointed the youngest US Inspector General, reporting to the CEO and Congress, managing a team of 40 attorneys and staff, multimillion dollar budgets, compliance management of 3000 employees in 19 locations, and management practices at the agency. Prior to embarking on my legal career, I worked at Chemical Bank (now JPMorgan Chase) in New York and London, England, overseeing asset- and mortgage-backed securities operations for several departments across the country. In addition to my professional duties, I have always committed to volunteerism in the communities in which I have lived. I have chaired the board of directors of the Sustainable Business Network of Washington, DC, a group of 400 companies leading the region’s environmental corporate social responsibility efforts. For 10 years, I served on the Business Council of the Human Rights Campaign, aiding companies in being more responsive to their gay and lesbian employees. Currently, I serve on the Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis and chair the Sapphire Theatre Company boards of directors. I am a member of the US Supreme Court, US 10th Circuit, US District Courts of Colorado and DC, Southern District of Indiana, as well as the Indiana, Colorado and District of Columbia Bars.
