About

I provide an  aggressive defense as to any and all criminal charges filed against my clients with the goal of getting  the charges dismissed, reduced and/or minimizing the consequences which might result from the charges filed. I will never advise you to accept a result that is not in your best interest.  I will however give you all the information I possess on your case, the law, the court and the process of how your case moves through the system, and the possible and likely outcomes.  I do that in order for you to make the choice you feel most comfortable with in seeking to obtain the best result for you in your mattter.I believe that a client must be comfortable enough to discuss honestly and completely with his attorney all the facts: good,  bad and ugly.  I need my clients to be honest with me in discussing their case, because not knowing everything may give the other side an advantage that could be used against the client, or make it so I can't get the best outcome possible.  That level of comfort and trust is of crucial importance in the attorney client relationship.  In building that trust, my clients, including potential clients who are interviewing or consulting me to determine who to retain, all know that everything they divulge to me about what they said or what they did or what happened relative to charges they are facing or about their case, everything  is 100%  protected from disclosure by the attorney client privilege. That means that I can not be forced to, nor will I ever,  divulge any matters my clients have told me,  in strict confidence,  as their attorney.   Even a court can not order me to do so, and even if they did,  I still would not.  What my clients and I discuss will never be revealed unless the client tells me to.If you have charges pending against you ,or have just been arrested and are looking for any attorney,  before hiring any attorney, meet with them, meet several actually, and ask lots of questions regarding the specific facts of your case, ask about their experience handling similar cases, their familiarity with the court and/or judge and what have been the results/outcomes of cases they've handled there.  Never hire an attorney who you don't feel comfortable fully and honestly discussing your case with and who you don't feel you can ask questions of and have them provide to you the answers you need to make decisions on your case.  Its your case and you are the one who will make decisions,  hopefully with your attorney's guidance and advice.   Always make sure that the attorney you speak with will be the attorney who is actually going to handle your matter, and that it wont be farmed out to  an appearance attorney or a still wet behind the ears, just passed the bar attorney without much experience.     At the Law Offices of Marc A. Legget, when you hire me, you get me.  I handle your case from start to finish, and I will be there for you every step of the way.On a final, but still very important note,  if in meeting with an attorney to decide whether to hire them, if the attorney promises you a specific outcome in your case, in an attempt to get you to sign up with his firm  or to prevvent you from interviewing other attorneys to make a informed choice on who to retain, politely excuse yourself to the restroom and dont bother going back.  No attorney can, and any decent attorney won't,  guarantee any outcome in court or elsewhere.  The only guarantee they should make, and its the one that I make, is to give  you and your case the best effort possible in seeking and obtaining the  best resolution possible in light of the facts and circumstances particular to your case.Rest assured that at the Law Offices of Marc A. Legget you will always get my best effortsand the best possible result.

Not long ago, I was charged with some pretty hefty and life-altering crimes that could destroy a good portion of what my future would be. I initially decided on hiring someone else for my defense, who did more damage than good for my case in that he was merely able to get postponements for the first 16 months, and even that work was not himself but rather one of his underlings he sent in his place who knew almost nothing of my case. a year later I caught another case that was related to the first in ammunition charges and therefore became incarcerated. according to the attorney i initially hired, my best outlook would be doing the time of 6 years and that I would not have a chance at being release anytime soon. i could not understand why my paid attorney would not attempt to lift my probation hold which prop 47 would be taking care of. i would then be able to fight my cases as a civilian and not a prisoner. after one collect call, my attorney became unreachable as well. at this point i was approaching the point of hopelessness. right then, i received some advice from a fellow inmate to give his attorney, Marc Legget, a call just to see what he could do for my situation. i called Mr Legget and explained my situation, and i was able to call him whenever i wanted on a daily basis for the next several weeks! he was genuine and straightforward, stating he could not promise that he would be able to help me, but he would be able to promise his availability to me whenever i flt the need to communicate and that any evidence admissible for court he would make sure it was presented to the courts. on April third, i hired him as my attorney and expressed the desire for my hold to be lifted from probation so that i might fight my cases from outside the walls of the county jail. on his first appearance in court on may sixth, he presented the court with my prop 47 case (case that held me in jail), and he had the hold dropped, subsequently allowing my ability to bail out two days later. what a relief for me! true to his word, Mr Legget reviewed my cases and pertinent evidence, packaged it for the DA and was able to steadily drop my offers of prison time from 6 years down to 4 years, and then even further down to 32 months. he expressed his opinion in giving me a program as my sentence to the DA as well; we worked together as a team and fought to the bittersweet end, providing information that eventually got me a sentence that allowed me to remain a free man, which was five years of probation, with three suspended. Exemplary and efficient work, I would recommend this attorney to anybody out there who needs someone to have their back and someone who puts all effort into the work that they do.

This man is a genius. He knows the law inside and out. He's effective and caring and won't work you over. I had multiple possession charges and now none of them are on my record; just a misdemeanor disturbing the peace; he got me a Deferred Entry of Judgement, and helped me navigate the requirements. He worked with me on financing, and his rates were very reasonable. It felt like he put my wellfare first, and he wrote letters to my employers for me. I'll always be grateful to this fantastic attorney.

I was facing 23 theft related counts in three different courts. Marc Legget got all the cases consolidated and worked out a plea bargain with the D.A., who wasnt doing anything with the public pretender I had before my family retianed Mr. Legget. I was facing no less than a 12 year sentence in state prison according to the Public pretender, But Mr Legget got me just a one year deal in county jail. How he did that I dont know, but he was just great. Told me what to expect, what the owrst case scenario was and then did a whole lot better. IF YOU ARE IN TROUBLE, CALL THIS GUY. HE CHARGED A FAIR FEE AND WAS WORTH TWICE THAT MUCH IN A HEARTBEAT.
