Marc Engel, an employment attorney at Lerch, Early & Brewer in Bethesda, Maryland, co-chairs the firm’s Employment & Labor group and is a member of its Litigation group. He also conducts anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training; drafts handbooks, agreements and numerous other documents for employers; and performs employment audits.As part of his commitment to keeping his clients ahead of the curve in terms of employment and personnel issues, and related legal developments, Marc created the Employment Alliance Group. The group is composed of human resource professionals, business executives and business advisors and focuses on creative and proactive ways in which employers can address the ever changing landscape of employment laws and issues. Marc periodically invites expert speakers to his meetings to discuss timely issues of concern to his clients. These meetings, hosted at Lerch Early’s office, offer participants the chance to ask questions, network and learn about key employment issues.Marc, who is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia, serves as a mediator for private and court-appointed employment and litigation matters and has served as the designated mediator in conjunction with a corporate ADR program. The Circuit Court for Montgomery County selected him to be on its approved list of mediators for civil matters. In 2006, Marc was selected as a member of the “Greater Washington Legal Elite” by SmartCEO magazine for his work on employment matters.Marc received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. He also completed Maryland’s 40-hour Civil Mediation Training; a supplemental training course on mediating complex litigation matters; and an advanced mediation training course in labor and employment issues.Marc enjoys spending time with his family and friends, working out, reading and traveling. He ranks Italy as his favorite trip and fondly recalls the country’s scenery, art, people and food.
