Welcome! I am an immigration attorney serving the San Antonio and surrounding areas. Here's a little background on me and my experience:Before attending law school, I worked as a Market Research Specialist for the International Trade Center, a specialty Small Business Development Center. After completing my undergraduate studies in business, I held the positions of General Manager and Marketing Coordinator for an international fitness center franchise.In 2012, I decided to pursue my professional and graduate degrees at St. Mary's University and began my studies in the Fall of 2013. During my first year of law school, I became interested in immigration law after volunteering with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program at the Center for Legal and Social Justice. The following year, I participated in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic (IHRC) where I represented clients as a Student Attorney in both removal defense and non-removal cases.Later, I clerked at an immigration firm called De Mott, McChesney, Curtright & Armendariz, LLP (DMCA) in San Antonio where I further developed my knowledge and skills in immigration law. In the summer of 2015, I also had the privilege of serving as law clerk for the Trial Division of The Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C.My extracurricular activities in law school included serving as President of the LGBT law student group, OUTLaw, and co-founding the Immigration Law Association. In addition, my clinical experience led me to start the Backpacks for Kids project, a fundraising campaign to benefit the women and children recently released from immigration detention.My clerkship in indigent criminal defense and interest in LGBT legal issues inspired my work as Staff Writer for The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice. My article was published in the third issue of Volume 19 of The Scholar, and it highlights the challenges faced by immigrant transgender women who are charged with crimes related to prostitution.I graduated law school in May 2016, earned my law license in November 2016, and worked with the IHRC as a Clinical Fellow. There, I managed my own docket of cases and represented clients in immigration court and before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office.After the one-year fellowship program, I worked as an Associate with the Law Office of Javier N. Maldonado, PC for close to three years, and thereafter founded my own immigration law firm, Medina Law, PLLC.I am licensed to practice law in Texas, but can represent immigrants across the country before the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and Department of State. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of helping many people reunite with their families, fight their deportation, and gain their lawful permanent residency in the United States and U.S. citizenship.On my spare time, I enjoy visiting the many local and State parks in the area with my husband and our black labrador mix, Harley.Thank you for visiting!
