I was referred to Lou by my late wife’s law partner and a member of my business group at the Woodland Hills Country Club. The best thing I have done in my life is hiring Mr. Lou Shapiro to defend me. He is personable, tactful, talented, professional, very alert and mindful to what is going on in the court room and highly intelligent. I trusted him 100%. Knowing what misfortune the tragic accident I was dealing with could bring. I knew I needed the best defense I could have. I was charged with the unlawful discharge of fire arm in a residential area, which carries 3 years in a state prison and great bodily injury that carries 3 years in a state prison. I was looking at the possibility of 6 years in state prison. This was a tragic accident, that involved a ricocheted bullet hitting an innocent man. I had no idea it had even happened. What makes this case a nightmare is that the bullet cannot surgically be removed. I thought that 100% I would be going to jail. I just did not know for how long. The day of the trial Mr. Shapiro tried to talk to the victim but the victim refused to talk him. Mr. Shapiro approached the prosecutor and asked her to talk to the victim. The victim told the prosecutor he wants me to go to jail- period. No deal and no offers. Mr. Shapiro was able to make a miracle happen. The judge ruled 5 years probation and community service but no jail time. Mr. Shapiro saved my life and saved me from going to prison. It was a miracle. I highly recommend Mr. Shapiro, to any one dealing with a problem that doesn’t have a solution, such as mine. Worries, anxiety and stress can take their toll on you and your family. That is when a compassionate, kind and thoughtful attorney can be of the most benefit. Thank you, Lou.

I originally hired a different defense attorney to handle my case, but then decided to hire Lou instead. I'm a single father and I have fully custody of my child. My life turned upside down when I was falsely accused and arrested for 3 counts of domestic violence by the mother of my child. Words can't describe the emotions, the injustice, and the overall helplessness I felt, as my case was very difficult, and my original attorney said I had no choice other than to plea, or goto trial to fight the charges against me. Considering the charges were life changing for me and my child, and the fact that I was falsely accused, I could not accept anything other than being acquitted of the charges either through dismissal or trial. Knowing I had to make a change mid-way into my case, with the DA hell bent on charging me, I started looking for a new attorney, and interviewed many attorneys until I met with Lou. He personally met with me after my initial inquiry and took time to listen and offer me and my family his advice. I immediately hired Lou, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I felt very comfortable as he was very professional, knowledgeable, truthful and more importantly he actually cared. His experience as a former Public Defender for Los Angeles was very impressive, and he has a lot of clout in the courtroom and the way he handles himself. He handled my case with the utmost care and was professional, proficient, and effective. He met with me and went through every detail of my case for hours, and through his hard work and diligence, he finally had my case DISMISSED right before trial. He was communicative, accessible and effective in his approach, and he is a great strategist, and it paid off in the end, he got me a complete DISMISSAL. An amazing outcome, and I couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend Lou Shapiro to anyone facing this tough time, he is a true professional. Thank you so much Lou, I'm forever grateful : )
Lou, represented my daughter a couple of years ago and he was there for her from the beginning to the end of her case. (Never missed a court-date or rescheduled the date). Whenever I had a question, he was always willing to answer in a very warm, compassionate and professional manner. If I left a voicemail message on his cell or office number, he would call or email promptly. Out of 1 - 10 stars he was a 10 and above. In fact, I have recommended him to possible potential client!
I consulted with 5 or 6 attorneys before deciding to work with Lou Shapiro. Though many of the attorneys I spoke to were informative, none of them were as personable as Lou. He not only provided great information and insight into my case during our initial consultation, but also spent time empathizing with my situation and building rapport. He approached my case with optimism, but also explained to me the different approaches he would take if needed and guided me clearly through each possible scenario. His communications were consistently prompt and professional, yet he always maintained a positive, even easygoing energy. Eventually, my case was resolved using his initial strategy (the best-case scenario!). Even the hearing officer told me that he commended my "good counsel" in resolving the case so efficiently. He is experienced and knowledgeable in his field - that's a given. What really sets him apart is that he is also friendly, kind, and seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. That's rare, and it goes a long way. Needless to say, I would confidently recommend Lou to any of my closest friends or family without hesitation.
I was falsely charged with a felony assault with a deadly weapon a few weeks ago. Panicing, I went to thumbtack.com, avvo.com, spoke to friends / referrals and spoke with over 20 different criminal defense lawyers. I interviewed about 10 of those had multiple meetings with about 3 and chose Lou. The diligence paid off because he was was able to get the case dissmissed even before the arraignment. I've dealt with many lawyers and have never met one that was as genuine as this one. He walked me through each step of the proccess, was honest and realistic, and delivered everything and more. Plus hes a genuinely cool guy. To recap on why I chose him: 1. Extremely honest 2. Peers spoke highly of him (and vice versa) 3. All over the media (MSNBC, NBC, ETC) 4. Accolades 5. Praise from previous clients 6. Specializes in Criminal defense 7. Was a referral from a friend I rarely write reviews for anything but feel so strongly about this experience that I decided to. In fact, if you need more information about please private message me or email me at alexwang09 (at) gmail (dot) com, I am definitely willing to vouch for him.
