 My Experience I moved to Florida as a young child, and have lived here ever since.   I attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate degree, which I obtained with honors in 1988.  I then attended the University of Florida College of Law, and graduated in 1991.    I moved to Orlando after graduation to practice law, choosing to limit my practice to the representation of  injured persons, and their families.  I do not, and never will, represent an insurance company or a person who has been negligent.     I am a member of several local, state, and national organizations for attorneys who represent those who are injured through the mistakes of others.   Through these organizations, I keep on top of changes in the law, and constantly learn new ways to successfully present claims and trials.  I regularly attend continuing legal education seminars, which address changes in the law, as well as ways to be a more efficient and effective lawyer.   In addition to my regular work, I volunteer my time as a lawyer for children who have been abused or neglected by their parents.  I have served as a Guardian ad Litem in Orange County Juvenile Courts since 1992.  My job for these children is to make the system work for them, to give them the best chance at a normal, productive adult life.  Sometimes the work is frustrating, and heartbreaking, but there is no greater satisfaction than making life better for a child.    My Practice My clients need guidance through a confusing process, and advice and recommendations based on my experience and knowledge.  Most of my clients have never before considered hiring a lawyer, and are hesitant to enter into a process which is unfortunately seen as greedy, or manipulative, or somehow wrong.   But when a person faces the loss of a job, financial ruin, constant physical pain, rising doctor’s bills, and they can’t do regular tasks and chores, all because of someone else’s fault or mistake, their only option is to hire an attorney.   My job is to explain the legal process to people who have probably never been through a claim or lawsuit, and to work diligently to obtain full recovery for that person’s injuries.   Many of my clients have said that it is tremendously frustrating to see their lives completely change, when the person who caused the injury is living with absolutely no problems.  The person who made the mistake walks away, while the person who is injured must live with the injuries every minute of every day.  My job is to even the scales, and to hold the person who made the mistake responsible.  One of my goals as an attorney is to prevent recurrence of negligence.  I hope that by filing a suit, or making a claim, a doctor who has made an error will learn from that mistake, and won’t make it again.   I hope that a hospital will revise its policies and procedures, to prevent other injuries.   I hope that a nursing home will hire more qualified people, and respect the dignity of the elderly living in their facility.   I hope that a driver will be more careful on the road, and will avoid or prevent another terrible accident.  By holding people responsible for their mistakes, they will learn from them, and we will prevent those mistakes in the future.   By helping one person make a claim, I hope to prevent claims in the future.    In the best possible world, everyone would take appropriate actions, and would do their job fairly and correctly.    No person or family would be hurt by the mistakes of others.  Until that time, however, people will hire lawyers to help them through the complicated process of putting their lives back together.   I am honored to represent each and every one of my clients.  Client Contact My goals as an attorney are to keep my clients up to date and informed on the progress of their claim or case.  My clients receive copies of all letters leaving my office, and letters advising of the status of their claim.    I return client’s phone calls promptly, and answer questions until my clients are satisfied that they understand this confusing process.   Many cases settle out of court, or settle after a lawsuit is filed but before trial.   Since no attorney ever knows in advance whether a case will settle out of court, or go to trial, my goal is to prepare each case as if it were going to trial.  I would rather know more about a case, and have information that may be unnecessary, than to be missing a crucial piece of information.
