My 95 year old mother was living independently in NYC when she fell and broke her ankle. I knew that we now needed to deal with not only her recovery but also the task of finding appropriate care. Engaging Lyn was by far the best decision I have ever made. She is extremely knowledgeable and guided me through the whole process from finding a suitable nursing facility to handling mom's Medicaid application. During our first meeting she took the time to patiently explain all of my options as well as what were her recommendations. I never felt pressured, in fact during the whole process Lyn described everything in terms that were easily understood. Lyn has an excellent command of all the issues I was facing in arranging for my mother's care. She has made sure to "cross every t and dot every i" which has given me and my family a tremendous piece of mind. I would highly recommend Lyn to anyone who is facing the task of how best to care for their elderly parents.
My dad was self managing and even though my parents where getting older neither my brother nor I ever thought the day would come when we would have to manage their affairs and take care of them. They were always very private and we found no reason to intrude. We met with Lyn Eliovson and realized that there were options we never even considered. She helped my parents understand the importance of updating their powers of attorney and living wills and addressed how important it was to plan in advance for their care. If it had not been for Lyn, when my mother's memory started to fail and my dads physical health declined we would all have been at a loss. She opened our eyes to the necessity of elder law planning and as we now face placement issues she continues to be available with efficient, knowledgeable, focused, reliable, legal and financial advice. I would highly recommend Lyn to anyone looking for an elder law attorney.
When my 67 year old husband was suddenly stricken with a debilitating stroke, I was only aware of the emotional impact. I had no idea of the underlying threat of losing absolutely everything for which we had ever worked or saved. Fortunately, a close family friend, (a lawyer himself) advised me to specifically get an Elder Care attorney. He said, "you will need the very best you can get and Lyn Eliovson is the best one I know." He was right, Lyn and her partner Christine Tenore were precise, efficient, knowledgeable experts who turned in a clean, complete, flawless application for Medicaid, which was quickly accepted, for my husband's necessary long term care. As impressed as I am with the work that they did for us, it cannot outshine their treatment of my husband and myself. They were kind and patient with a compassionate understanding of the stress and sorrow of our situation. You may be wondering about the cost of such an excellent firm. Well, let me put it in perspective. The cost of these attorneys would have barely covered six weeks of my having to privately pay for nursing home care. One year of nursing home care and medical expenses would cost me our home and all of our savings.
Linda deserves ten stars for guiding my way thorough the care of my elderly parents. As an out of state POA, I needed a lot of information and Linda very clearly explained Connecticut laws regarding Medicare/medicaid and long term elder care. Through her advice I was able to obtain 24 hour home care for my father and then get both parents transferred to a long term facility under Medicaid. Linda drafted documents for my parents and personally delivered them for signing. Linda is premier elder law council in Fairfield County and I was fortunate that she was able to help so much. I highly Linda Eliovsons' counsel in matters of elder law.
We had a wonderful experience with Atty. Linda Eliovson recently. We sought her out for a very difficult case with my Mom who had been refused Medicaid. There were also extenuating circumstances. Our former attorney was not able to handle the case. Atty. Eliovson and her firm took on our case and were hopeful that they would succeed in obtaining Medicaid for my Mom. They worked tirelessly and we worked along with them. We felt involved and updated and Atty. Eliovson was very direct and organized with what was our responsibility. She always explained everything to us thoroughly and we were amazed at her expertise with elder law. Even though we were dealing with a very serious issue, Atty. Eliovson brought a lightness to our meetings together. She is a dedicated woman and obviously loves what she does. She has a moral compass and wants to do what is right in the framework of the law. The entire staff was very supportive and their hospitality always made us feel very welcome. The best thing is that my Mom is now on Medicaid!
I have the utmost respect for Lyn. I had an extremely complex problem with my estate because of a husband who had late stage Alzheimers. What I was facing was daunting! She was so knowledgeable with the processes of his care and final placement in AARC. Her expertise with what I had to do with my assets in order for me to apply for Medicaid and be approved was exceptional. She was very through in explaining everything! I could think of NO ONE else I would wish to work.
Lyn and her staff have been our legal team for the past year, obtaining conservatorship for me of my mother through the Probate Court and assisting with nursing home placement when it became necessary. She and her staff are very competent, knowledgeable, and prompt to respond to any issue. I recommend her highly.
Ms. Eliovson help me provide my aunt with the assistance needed when we no longer we able to provide care in the home. She assisted in the entire process of navigating the nursing home admissions process and state services.
