About

Laurie Edelstein is the head of Brune & Richard LLP’s San Francisco office. Her practice focuses on commercial and securities litigation, government investigations and regulatory enforcement proceedings, white-collar defense, and energy matters. She has extensive experience with complex financial transactions. An accomplished trial lawyer in civil and white-collar matters, Ms. Edelstein recently tried a breach of contract case for a major public utility winning a judgment for her client on statute of limitations grounds. She was also part of the trial team that won the acquittal of a Bear Stearns hedge fund manager in a federal criminal jury trial. Known for her mastery of the law and facts, meticulous preparation, and sound judgment, Ms. Edelstein has also obtained successful results based on her pretrial work. She has won numerous pretrial motions through her brief writing and oral advocacy, leading to favorable resolutions for her clients.Ms. Edelstein’s commercial and white-collar matters have involved claims of securities and tax-related fraud, breach of contract disputes, breach of fiduciary duty issues, and consumer class actions. Ms. Edelstein also represents clients in SEC investigations and enforcement actions, and in criminal investigations and proceedings. In addition, she has experience with internal investigations, receiverships and monitorships.Before opening Brune & Richard’s San Francisco office, Ms. Edelstein was an attorney in the law department of Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Earlier in her career, Ms. Edelstein was an associate at Rabinowitz, Boudin, Standard, Krinsky & Lieberman, P.C.  Following law school, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Myron H. Thompson, United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Alabama. Ms. Edelstein serves on the Board of Directors of Raising A Reader, San Francisco and Alameda Counties, a non-profit organization dedicated to closing the academic achievement gap by promoting and developing early literacy and language skills.
