Laura is obviously not used to dealing with other women. I went to her because she was a friend of a friends and offered a decent rate. She was so caught up in making sure that I understood what she could not do that she failed to focus on what she needed to be offered. She was often overworked on "new lawyer" tasks in her office and always seemed rushed when speaking to me. On the day I needed her to appear for me, she came rushing in talking about her bad day.... I don't care. Then she needed ME to brief HER AGAIN. I wasn't getting a special friend rate or anything, so I'm left to assume this is how she handles business. Also, she has a horrible attitude. She thinks she masks it with a fake "smile" but I could tell when my questions were ticking her off. She walked away from me after giving short responses on more than one occassion and then came back with the "okay, I'm ready to deal with you" attitude. I didn't appreciate her behavior and if I hadn't had such significant sunk costs during the research process, I would have gotten another attorney. I'd say you should probably find another attorney. Her office is full of them and I often felt like I got the short end of the stick because EVERYONE else seemed friendly and easy to work with. After how she treated me, my friend that suggested her even backed away and said herself that now that she has evidence of Laura's actual work ethic, she will never recommend her again. Sadly, I wish she would have learned that before she offered me such a weak recommendation of a lawyer.
