About

My name is Latrice M. Milton and I am the owner and designer of Milton Family Law, S.C., a unique family law firm started in Brookfield, WI that serves the needs of women going through divorce. Not too long ago I was in the position that you are in right now... my marriage with my husband was “irreconcilably broken.”At the time of my divorce I was working for the Ohio Senate Minority Caucus. I developed, researched, and lobbied for new laws that would benefit women and children, including allowing women who are victims of domestic violence to end their lease agreement or change their locks, and to prevent cyberbullying.Prior to this I worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Wisconsin representing the interests of hundreds of victims (including victims of domestic violence) on misdemeanor and felony cases. I won dozens of trials and hearings, and recovered monetary compensation for damages and injuries to victims. This experience has allowed me to become a zealous advocate for the rights of my clients. The experience of working on behalf of women as an attorney, combined with the pain of my own divorce, transformed the way I wanted to practice family law. I came to realize that although divorce is a transformative experience, it does not define the person. It is with this knowledge, passion and personal experience that I chose to create a law firm representing women, with a goal of helping my clients not just achieve a divorce, but to move confidently into the next phase of their lives. After my divorce I moved back to my hometown of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and began Milton Family Law, S.C. I have deep roots here; Brookfield is where I first began to develop my negotiation skills during curfew discussions with my parents as a teenager. I attended University of Wisconsin-Madison where I graduated with a double major in Psychology and Behavioral Science & Law (and a minor in Criminal Justice). As a college student, I learned to balance studying and attending Badger football and basketball games. I'm a Badger through and through.I continued my studies in Madison at the University of Wisconsin Law School, which consistently ranks as one of the top 30 law schools in the country. I was transformed from being an amateur negotiator to a professional negotiator after winning positions on the University of Wisconsin Law School Moot Court Board and in various mock trial competitions. Thanks to my UW education and my extensive experience I have a very thorough understanding of Wisconsin law. I believe in supporting all women, whether they are going through a divorce or not. Because of this I am involved in few great organizations supporting women, including the National Association of Women Business Owners (Greater Milwaukee Chapter), TEMPO Waukesha and Wisconsin Women’s Network. I also serve as a volunteer and board member for The Women's Center, Inc. When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time working out, trying to learn French with Rosetta Stone, and cooking tasty vegetarian meals that are always ignored at the family potluck.I would be happy to be your attorney and act as both a problem-solver and peacemaker to bring resolution to your situation. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions or to set up a consultation. Thank you.
