Lakshmi is fluent in Tamil.Lakshmi received her law degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia and a bachelors degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign, where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society and graduated cum laude. Lakshmi is admitted to practice law in Illinois and before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (federal court).
