My need was sad and drawn-out, yet Kris and her team were compassionate and considerate of my needs, my time and my emotional state. Kris sat down with me for the initial meeting and moved forward swiftly and seamlessly. Her team was proactive and professional at all times. At one of the most heart-breaking times of my life, Kris Thelen supported me through her caring professionalism.
Hired this attorney for a divorce and I count it as one the biggest mistakes in my lifetime. She talked a good game during consultation and in the early stages but when it came down to actual court appearances, she just sat there. She did know her way around the legal aspects(filing papers, etc)but when came down to actually fighting the case, or responding to opposing attorneys slander, she did nothing. $300 an hour and she wasnt shy about billing for reading an email or taking a phone call. I know they're mostly all that way, but it seems like that's where the firms "expertise" is. ALSO, prior to everything being buttoned up and a court date still scheduled, I rec'd a copy of a letter sent to the court that she no longer represents me. Needless to say I was surprised by that and hugely disappointed. Today I rec'd a letter from HER attorney trying to collect the $23,000 balance. 2nd biggest mistake of my life and a huge disappointment.
I was totally dissatisfied and disappointed with the service I recieved at $300 an hour. I ended up handling my own family court issues and had a great outcome after I fired her. At court she just sat...and sat and sat... saying nothing...huh? when I spoke up to the judge, he tells me, you hired a lawyer so keep quite... then he asks me how much you pay her, great... now I have a $300 mouth peice that just sits there. I was actually the lawyer so to speak, I did the opposite of what she advised and came out better in the end. Folks, save the high fees and look elsewhere. Big mistake on my part.
