About

Poonam Lakhani is an associate with the Prinz Law Firm. Her practice focuses primarily on employment discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour claims, and severance agreements. Ms. Lakhani also represents many of our small business clients in commercial litigation and transactional matters. Ms. Lakhani is an experienced attorney who litigates in state and federal courts, including serving as second chair on a trial in state court, obtaining an eight-figure verdict.  In addition, she has represented clients at the administrative level before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations (CCHR).  Ms. Lakhani regularly counsels both individuals and businesses across all facets of employment law, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, retaliatory discharge, and non-competition agreements.  Prior to joining The Prinz Law Firm, Ms. Lakhani interned in the litigation division of the EEOC, for Labor Relations department of the Chicago Board of Education, and in-house at Verizon Wireless.  Ms. Lakhani attended DePaul University College of Law, where she served as Symposium Editor on the Journal of Women, Gender and the Law. She represented DePaul at the Philip C. Jessup Regional Moot Court Competition where she was awarded 10th place for Best Brief. She was also awarded a number of scholarships during her time in law school, including the DePaul Law Merit Scholarship and Asian Pacific American Law Students Association Scholarship. Throughout her career, Ms. Lakhani has been dedicated to public service. Ms. Lakhani actively volunteers at the Cyriac D. Kappil Legal Clinic at the Indo-American Center of Chicago. She has served as Vice-President of Community Outreach and Vice-President of Membership for the Indian American Bar Association. She also founded the Women’s Committee for the Indian American Bar Association.  During law school, Ms. Lakhani earned the Benjamin Hooks Distinguished Public Service Award for her over 200 hours of community service, including volunteer work with the Southern Poverty Law Center to help victims of labor trafficking.
