Amy made all things possible and easy in the adoption of our granddaughter. Her work was prompt and professional. It’s easy to see Amy truly cares about the child’s best interests. Thank you Amy for making our dream a reality.
Upon receiving high recommendations regarding the work of Ms. Davis, my husband and I hired her to help with the legal aspects of adopting our son. I cannot say enough praises about the work that she did for us. Adoption can be an incredibly stressful journey but with the expertise and reliability of Ms. Davis it was very comforting to know we were in such good hands. I could rely on Ms. Davis for prompt and clear responses to my numerous questions, she approached our legal needs with enthusiasm and care, and the vast knowledge she has of adoption law was necessary to complete our adoption process. I highly recommend Ms. Davis.
We are so thankful to have found Amy. Our adoption is somewhat complicated and she has provided honest advice, has proven her knowledge of the system, and has even been willing to "talk us off the ledge" late in the evening when we felt overwhelmed by the uncertainty in the process. She is flexible but also straightforward when she feels that a particular course of action is best. I truly believe that she cares about us, our child, and our relationship with the birth mother, which is extremely important to us. She also has a good sense of humor, which is always appreciated during stressful times!
After adopting our infant daughter our hearts lead us to adoption again. The second adoption was with an older child in a completely different circumstance. Amy and Joanie were there supporting us from the beginning. From completing a different set of educational requirements, updating the home study, and traveling to a different state, we soon found out that every adoption is different, but having them walk beside us through this journey was exactly what we needed. There have been many barriers placed in our way from bringing him home to battling for termination of parental rights, through it all Amy was extremely knowledgeable of the North Carolina laws, professional, and above all advocated for what was right for the child. Having worked with Amy and her team of knowledgeable staffs, I would recommend her to anyone that wants a qualified, straight-forward, caring, professional that works for you and your adoption. Thanks a million for helping complete our family!
My husband used Amy for our adoption thirteen years ago. She was excellant and I would recommend her to anyone in need of an adoption attorney. She is very knowledable in all the laws in NC as well as other states, since our child was from Ohio. She is very thorough, honest and really cares about each person/family she works with. We recently retained Amy again as out lawyer for our bankruptcy. She has been such a great laywer in getting the job done. Our bankruptcy case was a bit of a mess and she took over the case and was able to quickly get it straightened out for us. Which in turn took alot of stress off of us. We would also reccommend her for bankruptcy cases as well.
We were facing loosing our home. My husband had been laid off from his job of 20* years. We tried to keep things together on our own but it got to the point where we just couldn't do it any more. We were robbing Peter to pay Paul. A friend suggested we go in and speak with Amy about possibly filing bankruptcy. That option never crossed our minds. I am so thankful and happy with our decision to just make the appointment. After our first consultation we walked out of there feeling like a weight had been lifted. She was so kind and down to earth and really seemed to genuinely care. She is very knowledgeable. The staff there is great they are always so kind and willing to help us and answer any questions we have. I would highly recommend Amy Davis!! Excellent Service!!
Amy is a knowledgeable adoption attorney with not only high integrity, but compassion and diligence. We used her for an out of state adoption for our twins in 2001, so it was only natural to use her again for our current adoption. Since our current adoption was through DSS in another county, she worked diligently with the DSS attorney in the other county to assure proper wording was placed on the court order from the judge so that there would be no impeding processes. Added to this was an out-of-state birth father who refused to sign any documentation nor give addresses of his whereabouts. Joan, Amy's trusted paralegal, worked unending on locating the BF so our adoption would proceed in a timely manner. Bottom line, we've experienced 3 adoptions all with extenuating and challenging circumstances without any delay or stress. She has made these experiences wonderful and has taken a lot of the burden off so we can enjoy our growing family. I would not hesitate to recommend her and have to several people.
Adopting our little girl was the most stressful, emotional, and ultimately joyous time of our lives. Having adopted 2 kids herself, Amy knew exactly what we were going through. She was our cheerleader when things looked bleak and our legal expert when we needed to finalize the adoption. We will be forever grateful for her help and compassion.
Do yourself a big favor find an attorney who will handle your problem, all I,ve gotten from this attorney and staff is a run around.Been dragging around for over 4 months,on a bankruptcy that is really pretty simple no real estate just cars and credit cards
Ms. Davis gives poor a bad name and it is unfortunate Avvo does not have a lower rating. It is difficult to find a lawyer whose judgement and execution was so meager as hers, and yet it was even worse with her choice of office staff. Point of fact, soon after our adoption case proceeded Ms. Davis removed this area of practice from the front page of her web site. Point of fact, Ms. Davis told us her specialty was agency and foreign adoptions. What she got wrong: Nearly everything; from misinterpreting and misapplying North Carolina's adoption laws (specifically family adoption), to delegating all but one of our interactions to her even more inept secretary/paralegal "Joni" , to refusing to contact us personally, to repeated mis-mailings and mishandling of critical and time sensitive documents. Again, I can't reiterate enough that we were only afforded ONE face to face meeting with Ms. Davis and that this was the ONLY contact we had with her. Countless calls made to her office during normal business hours were directed to voice-mail or were outright ignored; in general I would estimate that 1 in 10 calls were actually returned. Her choice to maintain irregular office hours and a four day work week were also impediments. And when we did get a hold of someone (insert Joni) we were given the same excuse multiple times that they were swamped with bankruptcy work for other clients... At one point, after months of mishandling our case, Joni had the audacity to ask us who was going to pay for the added work, the work they brought on themselves through ineptitude. The effect: What was essentially an uncontested Adoption turned into a 3 year nightmare. In the end we had to follow up and work with DSS and Clerk of Court ourselves to redirect critical filings and paperwork, including the application for the reissued birth certificate. I'm glad she has refocused her practice toward bankruptcy, because as an adoption attorney we feel she failed us.
