It would be safe to assume that anyone having to deal with a child custody battle will be under a tremendous amount of stress. Ken and his staff were a great help considering the amount of pressure I was under. I felt confident that I was working with a team that truly empathized with me and wanted the best possible outcome for myself and my family. Ken was extremely affordable and did not take advantage and bill me every chance that he got. He was always available to answer my emails or provide reassurance over a quick phone call during this stressful period. He has been doing this for a long time and he will be upfront and honest with you and will not sugar coat things and tell you what you want to hear. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking legal assistance.

My meeting with Mr. Torkelson was fine when we met with him. However when it came time to have him actually represent us and speak with an attorney out of state to move forward, he absolutely refused to contact the other attorney. Her phone calls to him were left unanswered and had he wished to not continue with us, he could have saved us time and energy and said so outright. To make matters worse, he lied and said he did try to contact the other attorney. His office staff was worse and one of the other attorney's in the office had a client on speakerphone while we waited to see Mr. Torkelson.

Ken knew everything about everything and knew everyone who was anyone. I had a great experience working with Ken, however, his office staff was a different story. When I first met with Ken, he had an assistant that was on top of everything for him. When she left, some young, poorly informed sap was put in her place and he was responsible for everything from scheduling to sending paper work out to confirming appointments. This is where my experience went south with Ken's office. I could never talk directly to Ken; I was always forced to have a ridiculous back and forth with this kid who thought he had all the answers. Even when I was able to get my point across to this guy, he would either never pass on the information or just forget. When I told Ken about how this guy wasn’t working for him, he just dismissed it and needless to say. Ken is no longer my attorney.

Met with this attorney to review intestate succession and distribution for my aunts probate case. No husband, children, all siblings predeceased. Next of kin are nieces and nephews. He diagrammed per stirpes distribution at the sibling level. I left and hired an attorney specializing in California probate. California is per capita with representation, then per stirpes. He should read California Probate Codes 50, 6402 (c), and 240. It's very straight forward.
