I was referred by very trusted and knowledgeable source to Ken Raggio at Raggio & Raggio. I was in a long-term marriage and it seemed that my husband was acting erratically, to say the least. I set up a consultation with Ken and brought the documents he requested I bring. Except for the ones I couldn’t get, many of which Ken was able to discern a lot about by asking me questions. During the consultation, after Ken had focused what he considered the salient facts, he started giving me advice. He said he was showing me which “sector of the pie” or “part of the ballpark” I was in. It was advice that I did not want to hear or accept. I told him that I basically had little use for his advice laying out my future. Well, a few months went by and what Ken Had told me would come to pass was coming to pass. Ken did represent me in the ultimate divorce-- which turned out very well for me-- but what I’m really advocating for people is that they get a consultation with Ken to discuss their situation. Knowledge is powerful. And that consultation should probably happen way earlier than when I got one. It needs to be right THEN when you think there MAY be a problem, not after you KNOW there is a problem. A few hundred bucks well spent—to find out where you are likely headed.
I was referred to Ken Raggio by a friend and neighbor who used Ken Raggio to represent her in her divorce. She was very happy with his representation of her, so I consulted with Ken and he recommended that, due to the facts of the case, I was financially better off staying married to my husband as long as possible. Basically a year or so later I found out that my husband had filed for divorce, so I hired Ken. We then had a meeting of the two lawyers with the two parties to discuss having an efficient and amicable divorce proceeding. Over the next several months we exchanged sworn inventories and each other’s financial records. The case was set for trial, but we settled it in a mediation a month before trial and after both sides knew what the whole story was. Additionally, Ken helped me walk through the emotional issues of dealing with the end of a long-term marriage. I am grateful for his support and guidance. I’m very pleased with the services that I received from Ken and his firm and highly recommend them.
The Raggio's represented my mother in her divorce many years ago and she was very pleased with the outcome, so they were the first firm that I thought of when I realized that it was time to find an attorney to represent me in my divorce procedure. When I first visited Ken Raggio, I was ready to get out with my clothes and my truck. However after Ken assessed my situation he informed me that I deserved much more and that my spouse would probably come after me for everything. At the end of the process with many court appearances to drag information and money from my spouses control, she and I finally settled in mediation a month before trial and I walked away with everything I wanted and more than I anticipated when I first met with Ken. I am grateful to Ken for opening my eyes to the possibilities and I am blessed to have contacted Ken for his help. Ken Raggio's reputation as one of the "Best Lawyers" in Dallas as well as the State is well deserved and I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a Family Lawyer.
About five years ago, I filed for divorce from a charming, intelligent, manipulative and emotionally abusive husband. He made it a very long, difficult and adversarial process and refused to cooperate on any level. Since my ex husband and I were both physicians, dividing up the money and property was complicated. Ken Raggio dealt with the financial side of the divorce and with his expertise we were able to get an agreement signed. This allowed Barbara Van Duyne and me to focus on the really important matter, custody of my children. After a two day trial, I was awarded the custody that I had requested. It would not have been possible without Ken's expertise.
I hired Ken to represent me in my divorce after interviewing another leading attorney. My spouse was being difficult and we had to drag him down to court for a hearing. Ken Raggio was so much better prepared than the other side that we did very well at that hearing. It set up the situation so that my case could be settled very favorably to me. I highly recommend Ken Raggio and his firm - and I got above-guideline child support.
I looked up international divorce on the web. I found Ken Raggio. I was also referred to him by an attorney who knows the reputation of the Raggio’s in the Dallas legal community and specifically in divorce and family law. Specifically, my husband and I had last lived together at his home in Germany. Which meant that this was an international divorce case. My goals were very clear: I wanted to get a divorce, instead of spending months or years and a small fortune dealing with jurisdictional issues that arise all the time in international divorces. So Ken devised a straightforward and efficient plan to try and help me achieve my goal. And it worked! I went to court with Ken just three months after the divorce was filed and got my divorce granted. I appreciate Ken’s quick analysis of my situation and very accurate advice. It led me to the exact resolution that I desired.
My husband and I had not been getting along. We are both professionals who mostly work outside of Dallas, and were rarely at home at the same time. Then I get a letter from a lawyer saying he wants to annul our marriage, and that if I didn't agree that they would make me pay his attorneys fees. I was referred to Ken Raggio, who told me that an annulment was NOT appropriate, and that I should not agree to something like that, and that if my husband wanted a divorce, he should file for a divorce. He eventually did file. And we exchanged documents. And I quantified how much my husband had spent on his girlfriend. And even though the lawyers never met and my husband and I never met about the divorce, we were able to get the house under contract for sale and come to a complete agreement dividing all our property. And I got my name back! Ken was able to help me see and deal with the reality of my situation and helped me to come to a final resolution with which I am happy. Thanks.
Earlier this year I went to my doctor for a routine visit. They said my medical insurance was invalid. I called my insurance compnay who told me, oh by the way, he was not an employee. I had trusted my spouse to handle our finances so for the first time I checked out the bank account. I found extravegant travel expenses that my spouse had taken a paramour on, because I certainly wasn’t there–or even knew about these trips. My sister works at the Dallas County Courthouse and suggested that I call Ken Raggio and set up an appointment, which I did. My spouse was in town then, but stated he would be going out of the country to work and wouldn’t be back for months. So I made the gut-wretching decision to file then and get him served while he was still here. So there. The case got started. My spouse also hired good lawyers, so we informally exchanged a lot of documents and account information. I concluded that my spouse had wasted hundreds of thousands of our dollars on the paramour and on other things. I felt I was getting, with Ken’s direction, enough information to be able to assess my currrent situation–one I never really expected or wanted to be in. Ken explained to me–several times– how the law would likely be applied to the facts of my case. He kept me focused on what could be, not upon what I wanted things to be. So equipped with this knowledge, I dealt with my spouse to see if we could cut a deal. I contunually asked Ken questions about this or that issue. And he would advise me on my range of options. Eventaully we did get to an agreement, and I got the house that my spouse owned prior to our marriage. But the deal we had made had to be very tightly papered, as I felt my ex-spouse would likely disappear as soon as the divirce decree was signed. So we had a small mountain of deliverables that I got from my spouse at Court when BOTH of us appeared to give testimony to prove up the facts of out agreement. Yes, I wish the divorce had been easier and cheaper. But already just a week or so after the divorce, the house has been transferred to my name, the debt on the house paid off, the money I was to get transferred to my account, and most of the other details have been fulfilled. The retirement order has already been approved as “qualified.” I am grateful that Ken and his firm were there to help me. I feel that I am much better off where I am now, with the divorce over with, than waiting for a multiday trial to come up next year. There would have been a lot of expense to get things ready for mediation and for trial, and I am glas not to have had to do all those steps. I didn’t expect to have to hire Ken this year, but I am glad that I did. I highly recommend Ken and his firm.
I consulted with Ken Raggio and the others at Raggio & Raggio and hired them to file a divorce for me. I had previously filed for divorce with another lawyer, but eventually dismissed it. Ken was so much more thorough in telling me what I needed to know, and was firm in keeping me focused on the things that he said I needed to be focused on. I’m sure he got mad at me on more than one occasion! Anyway, my big complaint was the lack of transparency and financial with my spouse. As soon as the divorce was filed, Ken got all the financial information that I really only suspected existed and was very comforting. My spouse has again asked me to reconcile and we put off the temporary hearing for which Ken had prepared me fully and completely to give our reconciliation a chance. Don’t know if my spouse and I will make it; as Ken says the founding fathers said, “pursuit of happiness, not guarantee of happiness,” but Ken helped get to the place where I feel better about my situation than I have for years.
My child’s father and I had an amicable divorce a couple years ago. Our possession schedule went okay for a while with little changes here and accommodations there working out. I didn’t even really pay attention to the fact that he wasn’t paying what he agreed he would pay. I even took or picked up our child at the father’s work in another county to help him out. It wasn’t long before my agreements and accommodations to the father led to his bullying of me. This eventually led to me saying we should follow the possession schedule that we had agreed to at the time of divorce. Well, he didn’t like that, and he responded with more bullying, filing a pleading seeking to have temporary custody of our child and filing an untruthful 33 point affidavit. So here I am with a lawsuit. I was referred to Ken Raggio by another lawyer who is also listed as a D Magazine Best Lawyer. He looked over the pleadings and affidavit, and said that this was bogus, but that I still had to defend myself. Well 5 court appearances over five months ( the father appealed the denial of his initial requests by the associate judge to the district judge, and lost again) and a final trial, Ken’s advice was borne out: the father was completely denied all relief he sought, my child support was raised almost a thousand dollars a month, and I was awarded $20,000 in my attorneys fees for the father to pay. And he has to pick up and deliver our child at my house, or to our child’s school, which both are in a different county that the father lives in. I didn’t expect to have to hire Ken this year, but I am glad that I did. Not only did he set the table to deny the father’ relief, but he also got sworn testimony submitted in trial showing that the father had lied in filing his federal tax returns by wrongly saying he had paid for day care and was the primary parent. I think the father now knows that I have a strong attorney just in case he is thinking about starting up his bullying again. I highly recommend Ken and his firm.
