About
I grew up in Northeast Missouri and graduated from Truman State University in 2002. I attended law school in Vermillion, South Dakota. While in law school in interned at the Federal Public Defender in Omaha.Upon graduation I accepted a position at the Public Defender's Office in Sioux Falls, SD. During my 6 years at that office, I handled thousands of cases ranging from traffic tickets to serious felonies.I have filed numerous pre-trial motions to keep specific evidence out at trial with the most public one being in 2013 where a successful pre-trial motion kept the prosecutors from using the term "abusive head trauma" on a shaken baby case. I have also had numerous trials, both jury and bench trials, with great outcomes. As I handled more and more cases I realized that a "win" was not necessarily a not guilty verdict (although those are fantastic), but helping clients to make major life changes. I have been able to get clients through diversion programs where they are able to move forward to receive degrees or professional certificates, to one client even opening her own business.Leaving that office was tough because of the relationships I had made, but being able to work for myself and to put more time into every case has been just as rewarding.

I came in from a previous lawyer who had explained nothing to me just sent me emails about my case with word i did not understand. I sat down in a 30 minute consultation with my jacobs and he explained to me more in 30 minutes that my previous lawyer did in 6 months. I changed over and he is doing an amazing job helping me with my case.
Ive had a couple of attorneys in the past and I can honestly say he's one of the best I've had. Most lawyers I feel generally don't take the time to actually get to know you as a person . They are just there to do their job and get paid. He was there for me with any questions I had and making sure I did all the requirements that got issued to me from the judge. Even now, after all my legal issues are done and over with I feel I can still contact him with anything. I was 19 when I first had him as a lawyer and he represented me through my 2nd and 3rd duis. I am now 25 and it feels good knowing I still keep in touch with him, as he watched me struggle through my younger years and him knowing I am one of the few who actual got clean and sober and learned through my whole journey.
