Divorce is probably one of the most stressful things in anyone's life. Kathleen had the disadvantage of entering as my second attorney. After a failed mediation and a too quiet and too sweet attorney, I found Kathleen. My sister-in-law had testified for her in a case and was incredibly impressed. I soon concurred. Kathleen was honest, real and told me the truth - not what she thought I wanted to hear. Exactly what I wanted and needed. She found the perfect mediator for us (I do believe there is an art in picking the right mediator for a client!). Kathleen allowed me my emotions (believe me, there were a few!) but also kept me focused on the things that mattered. She's smart, great with numbers (accounting background) and a wicked sense of humor. Everything I could have asked for and more! I ended up with my kids (#1) and all the "real" money (#2). Only wish I had started with her and saved myself 8 months of grief!
I hired an attorney over the summer to handle a custody case as my kids were in a dangerous situation. In sixty days this attorney took me through two losing trials and ended up billing over $65,000. In the process she managed to upset two judges. In the end my children were left in a more dangerous situation than had I done nothing. I felt I had let my children down and was more than disheartened. That said, I could not give up and leave them in the situation they were in. I decided I needed to try again with a new attorney. I was recommended to Kathleen’s firm by a friend. As you can imagine I was skeptical at first as my prior experience was so disheartening - I felt it was all about "billable hours". When I met with Kathleen one of the first things she said was “If I ever have something on your bill you don’t agree with, tell me and I will take it off”. I was still skeptical until I received my first monthly billing. In short, her billings were concise and understandable. More importantly, she took five minutes, and billed five minutes, to do a five minute job. Through about four months of engagement I never felt like I was being miked for time, and never felt I was treated unfairly. We ended up in mediation - which is a lot of waiting. Even in mediation Kathleen said “I can sit here and speak with you and bill you for my time, or I can work on other cases while we wait.” Having been through other mediations over the years there is a lot of waiting time. This is the first time I had been given this option! With that said, it doesn't matter what an attorney costs if your children are not taken care of. My end result is that after about four months of working with Kathleen I have my children with me full time, child support is reversed (with me receiving instead of paying), and I am able to move my children out of state – almost unheard of in a custody situation. I ended up being billed about a quarter what my previous attorney had billed in just two months over the summer – AND most importantly I got results that keep my kids safe! I have worked with many attorneys through businesses I have been involved with through the years. It had always seemed like a game of “how many hours can I bill you for”. I absolutely did not feel this way with Kathleen. I could not recommend her more highly. She is absolutely the best attorney I have ever worked with.
Kathleen Coble was incredible during my divorce. She is intelligent, strategic and personable. She was extremely impressive during the multiple depositions that were required. Every question and e-mail was answered in a timely manner. My childhood friend (a family law attorney in a different city) recommended Ms. Coble, and I’m so grateful. I would also like to add Ms. Coble's paralegal, Kathy Emory, was equally effective and efficient. I can’t say enough positive things about these professionals.
Kathleen Coble not only represented me in my divorce and kicked butt, might I add, she empowered me every time we met. Kathleen not only knows the ins and outs of family law, but she also has a wealth of knowledge in the accounting, which I had no knowledge of at all. Upon meeting Kathleen, you can feel her energy, her strength and confidence. She definitely can back it up!!! She also has a very kind and compassionate side that allowed me to cry when I needed to because there were times I did! I felt confident for once in a very long time that someone had my back. Kathleen did!!! I am forever grateful.
Kathleen was recommended to me by a friend who worked with her in a child custody battle with his ex-wife. I took his recommendation, and I have been a client of Kathleen's for two years now. She helped me navigate through a drama-filled divorce, and she has also helped me through an extremely high-conflict child custody litigation with my ex-wife. Kathleen is a no-nonsense person who has helped me make sense of what is going on and helps me figure out what my next steps should be. When my ex-wife's emotional and psychological instability causes problems for me (or my children), Kathleen makes herself available to help me handle the problem promptly. Her advice has consistently turned out to be excellent and has set me (and my children) up for the best possible outcomes. But I think my favorite thing about Kathleen is the fact that it's more than just a job for her - it's her passion. I know that she represents me to the fullest of her ability because I know that she cares about me and my children. I can't recommend her more highly.
Kathleen Coble is an excellent family law attorney. She is very knowledgeable and speaks frankly. Meaning it may not be what you want to hear but it is what you need to hear. She guided me in all aspects of my divorce and steered me thru the mess, much like a friend but never crossed the professional line. In short she cares. Her advise was sound, She was prompt in returning my calls and kept me informed about my case. As a result I was awarded custody of both my young children. Even though I was a male in Travis County.
