About
I have practiced in Tennessee for over 26 years. My cases include discrimination (race, religion, age, disability, sexual harassment, national origin); retaliation (workers' compensation retaliation, retaliation for opposing discrimination, and whistleblower); unemployment compensation appeals and administrative hearings for employees of the State of Tennessee (T.E.A.M. Act), TVA, UT Hospital and other governmental agencies. I also represent individuals who have been denied Family and Medical Leave Act leave, overtime, and pay under contract. My litigation practice is primarily representation of individuals. Call my office to discuss your particular situation and whether a consultation is right for you. Some types of cases do not have an initial consultation fee, while other types of cases or matters do have a consultation fee.I am also licensed in California (inactive). I moved to Tennessee from San Diego in order to teach at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I taught at UT for 9 years, with 5 of those years as an Assistant Professor and 4 as a lecturer. I taught Hospitality Law for both graduate and undergraduate students, as well as graduate Human Resources classes and other courses.

I had Mrs Young took my cause and she did an excellent job. We won Thanks So much.
Ms. Young was my attorney for my unemployment appeal hearing. She is very professional and knowledgeable. Told me what to expect each step of the way. Even better she won!!
There was not once I waited over 24 hours for replies to my questions. She is sharp and knows the drill. She was great at guiding me through the process and patient with my questions. I won my appeal because she knows exactly what she is doing.
That is the best word to describe her. She works very hard for her clients! She worked to make the best of a very complex set of issues, resulting in a settlement for me.
I hired Ms. Young in May of 2015 to handle my mother's estate and I'm so glad I did. My brothers and I did not live in Tennessee and unfortunately mom died just days before she was supposed to close on the sale of her house. We were going to move her to Washington state where I live. Her untimely death complicated the sale and Ms. Young handled it. She was always quick to return my calls, answered my questions, and was always pleasant and professional. I highly recommend her if you have estate/probate needs.
Katherine is a excellent attorney. She represented me in a legal matter. Katherine not only knows the law but cares about her clients. She kept me informed and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. Katherine also helped my husband and I draw up are wills, living wills and all documents we needed to insure our estate was left exactly the way we wanted. She made sure every detail was taken care of per our wishes. Katherine is an honest, hardworking, knowledgeable attorney. I would highly recommend her!
Professional, precise and she knows the law. She made the process as pleasant as possible and was on top of things.
I first hired attorney Katherine Young to create a will, living will, and durable power of attorney for health care. From the very beginning it was obvious to me that Ms. Young's primary motivation is excellence in practice... providing the very best possible legal advice and assistance to meet her client's needs. At a later time, as the executor of a deceased friend's will and being retired with a lot of time on my hands, I thought I would be able to handle the probate of the estate by myself. When things got too complicated I turned to Katherine Young again. She readily assessed the situation, summed up what remained to be done, and outlined a plan for completion. Her knowledge and experience, combined with her calm and confident demeanor, inspired my trust and I turned everything over to her with total peace of mind. Ms. Young kept me apprised of her progress, kept a detailed record, sent me copies of everything she did, and was very quick to respond to my questions. She is awesome and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone.

I had Mrs Young took my cause and she did an excellent job. We won Thanks So much.
