About
Kat was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She attended the University of Texas, where she majored in Political Science and minored in Pre-Law. She also worked as a child advocate for East Texas Child Advocates, where the court charged her with representing the bests interests of children in dependency court. She then moved to Houston, Texas, one of the largest legal markets in the nation, to attend law school. While at the University of Houston Law Center, Ms. McClain was afforded many different opportunities, including clerking for a family law judge. She also clerked for Rusty Hardin, a nationally-known attorney. Shortly after she graduated from law school, she took a job as an associate attorney with a family law firm, just north of Houston. While in Texas, Ms. McClain was a certified mediator and conducted mediations for small claims courts and the Better Business Bureau. In the Spring of 2011, Ms. McClain moved back to Wisconsin, in order to be closer to her family. She opened her law firm in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, where she practiced family law and criminal defense. In 2014, Kat moved to sunny Southern California to obtain her Federal Criminal Defense Trial Advocacy Master of Laws from California Western School of Law.
