About
I have always had a desire to help people improve their lives and situations. After working for two US Senators, I decided to pursue a more direct way to assist people in need: law school. I attended the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, which has a pioneering clinical program that enables and empowers students to perform legal work for underserved communities during their second and third years of law school. I split my time there between advocating on behalf of people who had been fired for disclosing vital information to the public, and ensuring that families impacted by HIV/AIDS were legally protected.Upon graduation from law school at age 22, I became a member of the Maryland and DC Bars. I continued to advocate on behalf of families, in particular non-traditional families. I volunteered with several LGBT organizations to create legal stability even during a shifting legal landscape, and I worked with HIV/AIDS service providers to provide free legal services to patients. After nearly 8 years of practice, I decided to make the shift to practicing family law full-time. I also took and passed the California Bar and moved to San Jose, where I am enjoying the diversity, the atmosphere, and the weather in equal measure. In my spare time, I enjoy sewing, landscape and cityscape photography, learning languages, and traveling.
