Karla is a solo practitioner. She takes care of business; I have engaged four attorneys in my family law case and now audit law school in advocacy for my special needs daughter. I feel well qualified to offer a review. My family law case is highly conflicted and complex; accordingly to the assigned judge it is the most litigious case in a caseload of over 700 cases and “by far”. The opposing counsel had been the co-partner of the former lead attorney general of Arizona. Karla's representation comes shining through in the courtroom in the heat of the arguments over the highly contentious issues. In my case, the Judgment Decree was not then end of things. Mother went to the Court of Appeals seeking to overturn a well written and deliberated trial judgment. Karla supported me heavily in defending the appeal and took the oral argument before the appellate judges in full stride with plain and simple arguments and easily prevailing The Court of Appeals from the presiding judge gave a resounding affirmation of the trial judgment albeit with minor adjustments all in my favor. This legal victory has become the case law of the year so far in the area of family law. The appeal took over a year and longer because it was a “precedent”. The life of my beloved daughter with autism hung in the balance with her therapies and treatments all on hold because her mother pursued statutory rights to appeal and prolong the deferment of best interest. Litigation continues but Karla representing me, I have confidence that my positions are well represented and will have the full attention of Superior Court. Karla took the time to “learn the case” at the beginning ,understand my positions, find the support in the law and then set a plan to accomplish goals all while standing up against unreasonable hyper-litigation. The dividends from the groundwork are now coming into the limelight. I am hopeful of continued progress in advocacy for my daughter because of the support and expert legal services received from Karla for which I will forever be grateful. For sure, she hates to lose; it is plain on its face as they say in legalese which means it shows! Why would you ever want to be represented by an attorney who is “okay” with loosing? Litigation is not pretty nor is it easy. Winning is after all a goal here. I highly recommend this Karla Calahan. Should you engage her and have an experience similar to my own, you would likely do the same.
Karla has been an amazing family attorney. Very profession and very efficient. I was very fortunate to find Mrs. Calahan and hire her as my attorney. Always happy with the outcome!!! Thank you so much. Karla took care of my divorce as well as many custody hearings that I will add was not and easy feat. Karla handled everything from the very beginning to the end (over a year long process). You get what you pay for with Karla!!
Have used her for two separate family court cases and she has always done right by me and my family will continue to refer others to her as well as use her services if ever needed again
My wife and I retained this attorney in 2006. It took 15 months in order to finally get the case before an arbitrator. No problem..... That was not her fault. Our problem with her is that she talks a good talk, makes it sound as though the case you have is pretty much an airtight case. A couple of days before out arbitration date she conspired with the other attorney in this in an attempt to undermine us. We were basically forced into a settlement with the other party that was close to 10,000.00 less than what it should have been. I wouldn't recommend her for the county dog catcher, much less as an attorney to represent someone in a case. It was a bad experience for both of us that left my wife in tears.
Attorney has has a few bar complaints, however it is not determined if Calahan has been reprimanded or not. Calahan has a tendency not to keep a client informed and can be unprofessional in communicating with opposing party if they do not have counsel representing them. Her lack of professionalism is something to be wary of when attempting to look professional while in court. It may hurt your case if emails of Calahan's unprofessional communication are admitted into evidence.
