My ex-husband recently decided to take me back to court in an effort to get his child and spousal support payments lowered and to seek more custody. Karen represented a coworker of mine in her divorce and my coworker insisted that I retain Karen in my dispute and gave me her number. My coworker had told me how great Karen was in court and how much she helped her and really cared about her case. I could tell by talking to Karen on the phone that I really liked her. She went above and beyond to calculate numbers for me, and asked me a lot of questions so that she could understand my situation. She is no nonsense and knows exactly what she is doing. I am confused by the reviews that say she is money hungry because I have experienced the exact opposite. Her retainer is half the price of my previous divorce attorney and her hourly rate is $100 less. I have never seen anything on the bill that shouldn't be there. I would highly recommend Karen Leder for anyone going through a divorce or custody situation!
A while back, I needed a family law attorney. Not knowing where to look, I asked my business attorney if he knew of someone. He said, "Hands down, the best Family Law Attorney in Sacramento is Karen Leder", as he's known her for years and practiced against her when Karen practiced other areas of Law - this will greatly benefit you. Since retaining Karen, she has listened, explained the law (which we might not always like), she's not afraid to make you look at yourself, stands tall against opposing counsel and will compassionately work in your best interest!! Wife former wife that wanted me to have less than 25% custody of our 3 children, Karen worked to earn 50/50 custody. Additionally, myself owning a small business, she negotiated a fair settlement. Only reason I can't say excellent for kept me informed, there were time she kept things in dark - really for my best interest as issues in divorce are emotional. She was doing her job to insure actions didn't take control and then working to get me out of trouble. Thank you!! I don't recommend divorce, however if it needs to end, you want Karen Leder representing you.
I was in a bad situation and needed someone on my side to work for me. That is exactly what I got! She understood my situation and without judgment she worked to the benefit of me and my children. I couldn't have asked for more in and out of court! I can't imagine being the "other attorney" against Ms. Leder! I'm glad she was on my side. I got what I asked for and more! Thank you Karen!
Sat on my case but happily billed against $5K retainer then when money ran out, she changed her mind about representing me. She also failed to foward letters from opposing attorney to me.
My initial meeting with Ms. Leder was promising. However, as the process went on and we started to tread into difficult waters - Ms. Leder became less friendly and less willing to go to bat for me as a client. The overall experience was disappointing. I would not recommend the law offices of Karen Leder. I would suggest for others to save your money for a more accomplished attorney, particularly if your case is more complicated.
This was such a disappointing experience. Lots of promises, lack of contact and follow through until court. Then at court was informed just to sit there and be quiet when some of what was being relayed was inaccurate. We were charged with excessive hours that didn't add up. Work was done that was not authorized by the client first. We finished with her because we had spent so much already (thousands) we just couldn't afford to change at the time. If we had known we would have used a different attorney altogether. There was always a reason for delayed responses and not "getting" information we provided. I understand if attornies are busy and have many clients but don't take them if you can't provide what you market. It is unethical and wrong. Our prior attorney was retired and we unfortunately learned a very expensive lesson.
