Julie was a fantastic advocate for me and my children during the collaborative law process. She was flexible with her schedule to work around times when i needed consultation and explained all aspects of collaborative as we went through the process and i had questions. I truly felt like I had a partner to help me navigate this difficult part of my life. For anyone who thinks Collaborative could be a route for them, I would highly recommend you work with Julie.
Julie wrote up separation paperwork incorrectly by using the incorrect dates. This is causing agreed upon spousal support to end a year sooner than it should have. When error brought to her attention she refused to correct her error. Her response was to “sue” me. Tells you what kind of attorney she is that she refuses to be held accountable for her error. She is obviously not working in your best interest but her own!
My case involved possible financial abuse and a false order of protection filed by my husband. I wanted to keep my children out of the fray, but wasn't convinced that my husband would be honest in Collaborative Law proceedings. Ms. Mersereau recommended that I leave my house given the tension between my husband and I based on his false order of protection. However, Ms. Mersereau neglected to negotiate any legal agreement with my husband and his attorney prior to having me leave my house which essentially awarded the house to my husband along with primary custody of my children. A HUGE MISTAKE which I still cannot get out from under thanks to the lack of foresight from Ms. Mersereau. I absolutely would not recommend her to ANYONE. This one basic mistake has cost me dearly.
