About
Katie J. Kawiecki graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2006 and received her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Criminal Justice, from Trine University in 2003.As Of Counsel with Chambers Law LLC, Katie focuses her practice in 3 main areas: Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Breach of Warranty Claims (Lemon Law). Katie focuses her criminal practice on criminal and traffic violations, representing individuals throughout central Indiana. Katie focuses her family law practice in matters involving but not limited to divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, grandparents rights, and protective orders representing individuals throughout central Indiana. Katie focuses her lemon law practice on representing individuals throughout the state of Indiana in breach of warranty claims under state and/or federal law. She has significant trial experience and has worked in a variety of areas of law.In 2006, Katie started her legal career specializing in family law where she represented individuals in divorce, paternity, child custody as well as protective orders. Katie went on to specialize in lemon law where she represented individuals in matters regarding breach of warranties involving vehicles. Katie has represented individuals in numerous mediations and arbitrations and settled over 60 cases for her lemon law clients. In 2008, Katie accepted a position with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in Indianapolis as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, handling misdemeanors and felonies. In 2010, Katie left the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and joined the litigation department, Corporation Counsel, with the City of Indianapolis where she represented the City of Indianapolis and its various departments in civil litigation at both the state and federal level involving matters regarding tort claims, personal injury, contracts, zoning appeals, Section 1983 claims, and excessive force. In 2012, Katie re-joined the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the screening division focusing on filing or not filing criminal charges. Prior to leaving the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in early 2019, Katie was assigned to the grand jury unit for almost 4 years where she assisted in investigations and the prosecution of white collar / financial crimes. In addition to being a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Katie was also a Special Appointed United States Attorney (SAUSA) for the Southern District of Indiana. During Katie’s entire tenure as a Deputy Prosecutor, Katie served as lead counsel and secondary counsel on numerous jury trials and bench trials and has appeared in court for various types of hearings on hundreds of occasions.After 11 years in public service, Katie became Of Counsel with Chambers Law Office, LLC. Drawing on her years of experience as a trial lawyer at the prosecutor’s office and her civil law experience, Katie is dedicated to providing a quality, personal legal representation to every client.Katie is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. She is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Issued a speeding violation in August 2019 on I-465 in Indy. 72/45 work zone/no workers present. State trooper was in traffic and did not use his radar. I disagreed I was driving that fast. I had automatic court date in Carmel, IN since I was over 25 mph above work zone speed limit. Reckless driving. I have a company issued car with very strict rules on moving violations. Had not had a ticket in 10 years. This would be a big deal with my company if not reduced. Secured Katie to help me. She was able to finalize this to a much lower violation and kept me from getting into trouble with my company. Thank you Katie. She can never make any promises up front but she took care of me. I would recommend her for any similar circumstance you encounter. Law firm employees very easy to work with and and above nice whenever I called. Again-- Thank you Katie.
I had one ticket with 2 offenses worth potentially 10 points. In the end, I paid fines but received no points. I never expected that kind of result, although I did feel there were mitigating circumstances. I would never have achieved that result on my own.
Just how lucky I was the day I walked into her office. I found out in court. She knew everyone and they knew her. A powerful presence and respect by her peers was obvious. While I am not experienced with attorneys or the court system this person is and has earned the respect you need in court. Retired veteran Construction worker
