About
Jules B. Olsman is president of Olsman MacKenzie & Wallace, P.C. He has practiced as a personal injury lawyer in Michigan for 39 years. He represents clients in cases involving nursing homes, doctors and hospitals, assisted living facilities and group homes. He also handles truck and motor vehicle accident cases as well as police misconduct cases. During his career, he has helped his clients obtain tens of millions of dollars in damages for their injuries. Mr. Olsman served as associated counsel in the Agent Orange litigation, breast implant litigation and was also co-lead counsel along with Donna MacKenzie in the cases brought against Farid Fata, M.D., the oncologist who bilked Medicare out of millions of dollars while treating people who did not have any disease. Mr. Olsman also represented Denise Bryant, the personal representative of her aunt Catherine Hunt, in a major case in Michigan which helped clarify the difference between a case involving simple negligence versus medical malpractice. The decision in Bryant v. Oakpointe Villa has held up for 13 years in Michigan and has been helpful to judges and lawyers when litigating these types of cases. Mr. Olsman was named in the Best Lawyers in America from 2007 through 2018 and was named the 2016 and 2018 Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year” in Troy by Best Lawyers in America. He was named a dbusiness Top Lawyer from 2010-2019. Mr. Olsman has been listed as a Super Lawyer from 2007 through 2018. Additionally, he was named to the Michigan Top 50 Consumer Super Lawyers list in 2013-2018 and the Michigan Top 100 Super Lawyers list in 2009-2016, and again in 2018. Mr. Olsman has been ranked at the highest level of professional excellence by Martindale-Hubbell, was recognized as a Leading Lawyer in Michigan from 2014-2018, and was selected as a 2015 Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Leader in Law”. Mr. Olsman was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court as a Commissioner-at-Large of the State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners in 2010. He was then elected to the Board of Commissioners by State Bar members in 2012 and served on that board until 2018. In 2016, he was awarded the Champion of Justice award by the Michigan Association for Justice and the Most Respected Advocate award by the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel. Mr. Olsman currently serves on the Board of Commissioners for the State Bar of Michigan. He acts as the liaison to the Elder Law and Disability Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He has served as president of the Michigan Association for Justice from 2000 through 2001 and as chair of the Negligence Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan from 2008 through 2009. He previously taught medical malpractice litigation at the Michigan State University College of Law. He served as a member of former Governor Granholm’s Task Force on Elder Abuse. He also served as a member of the Federal Judicial Section Committee from 2009 through 2016. How I Serve Clients As a lawyer for the past 39 years, I have seen firsthand the terrible consequences of injuries and death which have been suffered by clients and their families. In addition to physical pain and suffering, there are significant financial losses. Our job is to try to provide as much assistance as possible to the victims of negligence when it is a result of the conduct of others. In most cases, insurance companies and large corporations seek to deny liability, delay a case and blame others including the victim of their negligence. Initial settlements, if offered at all, tend to be far lower than the appropriate value of the case. Our firm works hard to establish liability as soon as possible and keep our clients advised of the progress of their case. I have had the opportunity to try many cases to verdict before juries around the State of Michigan. We are prepared to spend whatever amount of money is necessary on the preparation of a case in order to do the very best possible job we can for our clients. If you have been injured due to the negligence of another person or corporation, we invite you to call so that we can meet with you to discuss your case. There is never a charge or obligation for any meeting. We will attempt to give you as open and honest an assessment as we can initially and explain to you how our firm works and what you might reasonably be expected to achieve in terms of a resolution.
