Ms. Cooper was covered 100% by my legal resources plan coverage I pay for through work. I got a ticket for street racing and she was my selected attorney I was assigned through my plan. Although initially hard to contact (this was more on the part of the girls they have answering the phone there at the office), when I did finally get in touch with her she was courteous, professional, and confident I could get the charge dismissed, when my friend’s lawyer (he got a matching ticket) was aiming for getting it reduced to improper driving. I had limited contact with her after the initial consultation and I filed my retainer paperwork, but she assured me that she would appear on my court date prepared to defend me. Yesterday she showed up 15 minutes early she went in and told me that she was familiar with the judge and that he was running behind. We went over what happened and she explained what she wouldn’t and would ask questions about. When we went in to sit, the judge was talking to her like they were friends. Keep in mind she is a Virginia Beach lawyer representing me in Chesapeake after she had already had trial in Virginia Beach that morning. Of course our case was called up first, and they were initially going to try my friend and I separate but Ms. Cooper insisted we be tried together seeing as we were co-defendants. Once the cop spoke his side, I looked at Ms. Cooper, her notepad was full of notes she took while he was talking. She then proceeded to tear the cops argument apart fairly decisively like in the TV shows lol. She asked me questions and I played off her questions accordingly. I even accidentally threw up a peace sign to the judge in the middle of (long story). My friends lawyer only asked one brief question to the trooper and concluded his argument. Ms. Cooper got my case completely dismissed no fine no charges nothing on my record. I almost gave her a kiss when we walked out!! My friend and his lawyer didn’t even need to say anything! 100% recommend her as an attorney and I will continue to come to her for any traffic charges I receive in the future! Highly recommend, even with a rather unique situation/charge as mine!

At the consultation, Wanda made it sound like she had my best interest at heart and that she would fight for me, but once I paid my retainer fee, she did not contact me and was incredibly unavailable. I had to e-mail or leave voicemails and, even then, her replies were short or non-existent. At the end of the day, I was left feeling scammed. I paid $600 for her to show up to court with me for 30 minutes. At some point leading up to the court date, she decided that my case was not worth fighting for but didn’t bother to let me know that. I was shocked and appalled. I realize that what happens to me won’t affect her life, but I wish she would’ve at least pretended to care. At the end of the day, Wanda doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers. She likes being liked and isn’t willing to fight if it means she loses good standing with her legislative “friends”.

Prepared us for a negative outcome without giving assurance that she will fight, displayed no confidence. Weak against tough commonwealth attorneys. Lost for us bond, preliminary, and trial on a case where there were no real evidence. Only communicated with us when we could catch up with her. No investigation was done.
