About
Attorney Josie Numa limits her practice to Immigration, Bankruptcy and Personal Injury cases. Ms. Numa graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice in December 2000. In May 2004, Ms. Numa graduated from Southern University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree. During her time at Southern University School of Law, Ms. Numa participated in the Civil Law Clinic where she represented indigent clients in civil and child support matters. Ms. Numa also clerked for one of the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees in the Middle District while in law school. Since graduating from law school, Ms. Numa worked as an Orleans Parish prosecutor for more than six years where she handled over 1,000 contractor fraud cases. Upon leaving the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Numa has dedicated her career to the practice of immigration, bankruptcy and personal injury. Ms. Numa has represented clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on family-based petitions, applications for residency, applications for citizenship, applications for asylum and applications for humanitarian visas. Being from Haiti, Ms. Numa has first-hand experience of the immigration system so she is very passionate in helping others to successfully navigate the system. Ms. Numa understands the complexities associated with the immigration system and procedures and she has applied her knowledge, skills and background to competently assist others in building a life in the United States. Ms. Numa is highly experienced in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. She has over 12 years of experience in consumer bankruptcy matters. Ms. Numa’s primary objective is to assist consumers in obtaining a fresh start under the bankruptcy code. Throughout her career, Ms. Numa has assisted over 1,000 individuals to take advantage of their rights under bankruptcy protection to restart, rebuild and recover. Ms. Numa is a member in good standing of the Louisiana State Bar, the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle District of Louisiana and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Ms. Numa is fluent in Haitian Creole and is able to lightly communicate in Spanish.
