About

Joshua Stadtler is a member of Dunn Carney’s commercial litigation, employment and environmental teams. He also supports the firm’s appellate, insurance coverage, and trusts and estates practices.Prior to joining the firm, Josh practiced in the Oakland, California office of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP where he concentrated on federal environmental litigation and regulatory matters, white collar criminal defense and internal investigations, and general commercial litigation.  Josh has represented Fortune 500 corporations in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country, as well as clients in investigations conducted by the US Department of Justice, the Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory enforcement agencies.Previously, Josh served as a law clerk in the Law & Motion Department of the San Francisco Superior Court. While in law school, Josh served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Joseph C. Spero (2010) and the Hon. Susan Illston (2008) of the US District Court, Northern District of California, and as clerk in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office (2009) as part of the Hastings Criminal Practice Clinic.While earning his J.D. at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Josh was senior production editor and a member of the Board of Editors forHastings Law Journal, and competed in the national products liability competition for the Hastings Moot Court Team. He also earned the Witkin and CALI Awards for Academic Excellence in Advanced Business Law Seminar, Business Associations, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts and Negotiation & Settlement, and was named to the Thurston Honors Society.In between graduating from college and beginning law school, Josh served in the United States Peace Corps in South Africa, worked at several law firms as a paralegal and spent 18 months on a solo journey through a dozen countries in Latin America and across Germany during the 2006 World Cup.Born and raised in San Francisco, Josh moved to Portland in November 2012 with his wife Lily and their cat Buddy.  In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading novels, watching sports and movies, practicing yoga, and hiking and trail running in the Hoyt Arboretum and Forest Park.
