About 2005 I researched attorneys to represent me on a contempt motion filed by my ex-wife. The attorney who was representong me at the time "run " the clock. She met with me and talked on the phone to the other attorney. She spent $3,000 in legal fees and I was still facing potential jail time. I had given money to my ex wife when the IRS was advancing tax checks in the middle of the year for each child. At the end of the year, the IRS deducted the full amount from my taxes. After informing the IRS that I gave my ex wife half of the advanced money based on the divorce decree and they should collect from her taxes, the IRS response was, "we gave it to you, we take it from you". After my ex-wife was shown that I had lost the money to the IRS from my taxes for her share, she said she would not return the money. I began withholding $20.00 per monthly child support check. She wanted to put me in jail for child support contempt. My previous attorney asked me to pay her all the money I had deducted from the Child Support and I did. My ex-wife's attorney still wanted to throw me in jail. I met Joe Registrato because I had researched his interactions with the Judge in question (whom I thought was not acting in accordance to the law). Mr. Registrato met with me and said : "This is not something that should be in court if you paid it. This is easy, and your attorney should have it dismissed." I explained about the $3,000.00 in legal fees, and I was still looking at jail time (for something I paid twice). Mr. Registrato stated he did not want to take my money for such a simple issue. I hired him, and when he entered the court room, i could see the respect of the judge towards Mr. Registrato. Also, right before he entered the courtroom he disarmed my ex-wife's attorney with a couple of questions and had the contempt dismissed in less than a minute. I would highly recommend Joseph Registrato as your attorney. I still have him on retainer in case I ever need an attorney. Thank you Mr. Registrato
Mr. Registrato represented me in my divorce. I was a wreck all the time. As I began to work with this attorney and his well informed staff I could not understand why he would not let me demands in my case. I learned with shock that I was hurting my case. I wanted to get my husband because he cheated. When I began to listen to the attorneys answers and the directions I saw my case clearly. It was important for me to provide the documents requested and to provide information. When I focused on these tasks I stopped wasting time and money. I was able to assist my attorney by verifying or disqualifying information my husband submitted. Mr. Registrato is highly respected in the courtroom. I saw the judge listening to the legal arguments being made in court. The out come was perfect. My children survived the divorce with very little emotional upset, because I was able to help them understand. I thank Mr. Registrato and his staff for all they did.
I'm in the process of looking for a good lawyer to represent me and in doing so I came across Avvo website were you can get legal advise ask questions and so on. But as I have asked questions and advise to a broad panel of lawyers Mr. Registrato would go " I feel " above and beyond some of the lawyers who answered me. I'm not knocking the lawyers on the site by any means Mr. Registrato wouldnt "sugar coat" anything he answered. So in doing my research in looking for a great lawyer Mr. Registrato in in my top three to pick to represent me. Because when you hear all the time picking a lawyer is a serious thing to do. It really is because when it's time to go to trial "if needed" nobody wants to be found guilty.
