About
I grew up in rural Breckinridge County, seventy miles west of Louisville and fifty miles east of Owensboro. My father was a respiratory therapist, and my mother was a homemaker and occasional waitress and cook. As the oldest of five, it was clear to me from an early age that if I wanted to pursue higher education, I would need to find a way to pay for it because I had a brother and sisters still at home. So, I applied myself, graduated valedictorian of my high school class, and was granted a full scholarship to the University of Louisville through the McConnell Scholars Program. During college, thanks in large part to the McConnell Scholars program, I was lucky enough to be given the opputunity to travel abroad in China, Italy, England, and Scotland. These experiences opened my eyes to the truth that almost everyone in the world wants the same thing, peace, knowledge of where their next meal is coming from, and a better world for their children, friends, and neighbors to live in. I also learned that systems of power and governance, no matter how well or ill intentioned, will grind up the citizens if their rights are not zealously guarded. It is the guarding of these rights that is the highest calling of an attorney and one which I strive to serve.
