I recently had one of the worst things imaginable happen to me. I had a shady person from my past file a protection order against me, for the simple reason of hurting my career. They knew that this would have a drastic and negative impact on my career so I decided to fight it. There are lawyers in DC who have mastered the Google algorithm so they kept coming up over and over and over again with every search for a DC criminal attorney and when I called to talk to them, I was referred to a different lower level attorney at their firm. I found Jon from his reviews after interviewing 3 other attorneys. His fees weren't the lowest or the highest but in the middle and he was flexible with a payment strategy. He spent time with me to understand the case and understood the outcome I was seeking. These charges were pure fiction and to this day am still in shock at how our legal system caters first to scammers, and only modestly to actual scam victims. Anyway, long story short, less than a week after meeting him we had our court date and he facilitated exactly what he said. If you've been fraudulently accused of something criminal, you need an attorney that will get in and fight for you. They shouldn't stress you out in order to prepare you for rate hikes or fees outside of what was originally agreed on. Jon gave me a flat fee solution and he did everything he said he would. If I ever had a close friend or family member that needed an attorney, I'd immediately refer them to Jon Norris without hesitation.
I first came to Jon a year ago with my very first legal issue. I was honestly floored by how unpretentious, and non-judgmental he was and immediately wanted to hire him. He made me feel at ease, and didn't make empty promises, yet he delivered everything he said and then some. This was a very emotional experience for me, and my future was uncertain in the beginning. At sentencing, Jon fought for me and made me feel much better about my future. Now 3 days later, I feel lighter, happier and free. I highly recommend Jon for his easy-going nature, and ability to make you feel at home. He's trustworthy and always delivers on anything that he says. He and his associates communicated well with me given the distance, and always kept me up to date with any changes. Overall, this was the best (albeit only) experience with a criminal defense attorney, and he was amazing!
I hired Jon to represent me in a misdemeanor sex abuse case related to an incident at a bar. I was initially represented by a public defender that told me the DA would not move off of the charge or offer any sort of diversion. The victim was so upset that she had requested jail time. I hired Jon, who after many court appearances and negotiation with the prosecutor's office got the case dismissed! No diversion, no plea deal - dismissal. It is my understanding that by using a more technical legal approach pertaining to the charges, as well as obtaining some evidence from the bar that worked in my favor, Jon was able to poke enough holes in the DA's case to convince them to drop it. In addition, Jon is responsive to client needs and questions throughout the process. He has a very professional demeanor in court and had a great rapport with the judge in my case. I would absolutely recommend Jon Norris. I would be sitting here with an ugly charge on my record if I had stayed with the public defender assigned to my case.
Jon Norris is an exceptional criminal defense attorney. Jon’s name was repeatedly given to me in referral from multiple friends and contacts after my arrest in D.C. I was visiting friends in D.C. one weekend and had the unfortunate experience of being arrested on two felony drug charges. This was my first run-in with the law and the workings of our criminal justice system. Upon my release, I was anxious to get this handled swiftly beaus as these charges threatened my employment and professional credentials. It wasn’t until my consultation with Jon Norris that I felt I had some control over the situation. From the outset Jon understood that my physical distance from D.C., multiple states away, would serve to be an additional challenge for us re: appearances, pre-trial conditions, potential deferment. He was very considerate to agree to take my initial consultation by phone when other lawyers would not. In that consultation and consistently in all our interactions, Jon was a great listener; always engaged, giving his undivided attention, asking questions and patiently answering all of mine. Throughout this whole experience he has been available for open and honest dialogue about the circumstances of my case, my defense strategy and all the twists and turns that would come to pass. I am beyond thrilled to report that ultimately Jon was able to get my case dismissed and the felony charges dropped. Several weeks later, the prosecutor’s office served me with a summons for a lesser misdemeanor charge. Multiple court appearances for pre-trial services and status hearings continued for another 6 months until Jon was once again able to get the case dismissed! I am beyond grateful for the legal guidance and savvy Jon has provided through this whole ordeal! Jon has a tremendous reputation within the DC legal community as evidenced by the great rapport he has with his colleagues/peers and the utmost respect he commands from the court and its officers. I strongly recommend Jon to anyone in need of a criminal defense attorney- not only for intelligence and breadth of experience, but also for his upstanding character, integrity, and commitment to his clients!
After my first meeting with Attorney Jon Norris it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I have complete confidence in him ability and knowledge. He is honest with me and returns my calls. He's an intelligent man, who includes you in the process. You’re never in the dark. Jon Norris also has a payment process that’s reasonable. I highly recommend him!! P.S - He got my case dismissed!
I hired Mr. Norris to help me when the DC govt. tried to make me register as a sex offender. I has pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent exposure in another jurisdiction and when I moved my probation case to DC, where I reside, the DC probation office (CSOSA) said I needed to register, despite the fact that I was not made to register in Maryland where the offense occurred and where I stood trial. Mr. Norris took on my case and immediately reached out to the DC general counsel, arguing the facts of my conviction did not support DC's contention that it was a registration-level offense. He argued that the information from court documents and the original police report was not sufficient to conclude it was a registration offense in DC. While DC sought a trial transcript from my case in Maryland to see if it would support me having to register in DC, the case appeared to have dropped as neither Mr. Norris nor myself heard from DC -- for three years! In the intervening time, I had completed my probation and my original conviction was thrown out in the form of a probation before judgement (PBJ) granted by the court in Maryland. Three years later, after I had moved on with my life and put my legal troubles behind me, I was contacted by CSOSA telling me I still needed to register and if I failed to do so an arrest warrant would be issued. The fact that they sat on this for so long before revisiting the issue and telling me I needed to register remains something of a mystery. I it was a bureaucratic snag and miscommunication on CSOSA's end that resulted in such a protracted delay before the dredged the case back up (since the ball was left in their court 3 years prior and they never responded). I reached back out to Mr. Norris who immediately recalled the details of my case and took action. I did have to report to register in order to avoid arrest, but Mr. Norris filed a motion to challenge the registration, arguing that A) the charge I initially pleaded guilty to did not meet the standards of a registration-level offense in DC and that B) regardless of the plea, the conviction that was the basis of any registration requirement had since been rendered nonexistent upon my PBJ determination - and DC Code is clear that if a conviction is reversed or vacated a person cannot be made to register. The DC general counsel ultimately agreed with Mr. Norris's motion, just days before our scheduled hearing. CSOSA was instructed to remove the registration (which never went public pending our challenge) from their database. Even when I was subsequently called by CSOSA to sign a letter that I didn't have to register, Mr. Norris insisted that - before I sign it - a paragraph be removed from the letter which stated I still needed to check in with local officials in other jurisdictions if I ever moved, went to school or visited for more than 3 days. CSOSA quickly obliged and removed the paragraph from the letter. Bottom line: my experience is that Mr. Norris fights hard for his clients. He takes the time to understand the situation and do the research to build a strong case on his clients' behalf. In my case, he showed himself to be a savvy, strong lawyer who is an unrelenting advocate for his clients. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows his stuff when it comes to DC criminal law and the ins and outs of the DC legal system. If one is looking for an attorney who will aggressively defend them in DC, I would absolutely recommend Mr. Norris - he's the right person to hire.
I don't know how Mr.Norris did it, but I definitely know he was able to prove my innocence in a possible vehicular manslaughter charge and a DUI charge. I spoke with multiple lawyers before finding Mr.Norris and I knew from the moment we spoke over the phone to us meeting in person that I needed him on my side. I had never ever been in trouble with the law in my life and all of that changed over night. Mr.Norris was able to reassure me that he was going to fight for my innocence and that is exactly what he did. It was a long 6 months, but a few days before trial when Mr.Norris called he told me the unbelievable...That my charges were dropped by the government. Between Mr.Norris and his talks with the government I definitely know for sure he was able to prove my innocence. Mr.Norris and his team were amazing throughout the entire process and when I thought the entire world was against me, I always knew that Mr.Norris and his team had my back the entire time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MR.NORRIS AS THE BEST CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY.
Alright let's just be straight up honest. The first thing you will notice about Jon is his "hippy" haircut. But after speaking to him, you are fully reinforced in your decision to hire him.. I was being falsely accessed of a sex crime, which in many states even an accusation can ruin your life. He stood up for me the first day of preliminary trial and said " Y'know what, this is a bunch of lies and if we lose we'll go straight to appeals" . The prosecutor was intimidated by such words. Didn't know how to react But he tried it anyway. To save you the whole story...a judge determined I was absolutely and beyond a doubt innocent. The prosecution rested their heads in shame, while I celebrated. Thank you Jon.
I was fortunate to have Jon Norris represented me in court, he knew I was deeply hurt with the false allegation filled against me and he said me "my job is to get you out of trouble" . He took his time and reviewed different options with me. He kept me updated throughout the process and got the case dismissed without wasting much time. He is such a smart and knowledgeable lawyer with such a great interpersonal skills. He is just too good in listening, teaching and familiarizing his 'lay' clients with the law, I learnt a lot from him. He is truthful and committed to the job, he knew my concern "my reputation" and worked so hard on protecting it. Thanks to Jon Norris and his team for saving me.
I faced a serious charge in Washinton DC. Jon Represented me twice on the same charge that was brought back by the District Attorneys office 5 years after they initially dismissed the charges. Jon twice went to bat on my behalf and both times the outcome was in my favor. Jon is vehement in the defense of his client, articulate and very well versed in the legal system. Thank you again Jon for your forthright and diligent representation and am in your debt.
