As a police officer, I knew I was facing some tough odds in a case that typically turns around into "guilty until proven innocent" by hearsay. The struggle of being innocent yet faced with felony and misdemeanor charges is without comparison. Kyle was extremely quick to come to my side, he helped me through every little step and he reassured me without giving false hope. Because of Kyle, my case was dismissed and I am able to resume my duties to protect and serve. I would choose Kyle again and again. Highly recommended.
Kyle was very knowledgeable and able to provide good guidance for my case. He responded quickly and communicated details as he received them. My case was resolved in a timely manner with minimal work required from me. Overall I was very pleased with Kyle and would recommend him for representation.
After making many calls to attorneys I found online, I chose to hire Kyle Schou. I have dealt with a handful of attorneys in the past for both criminal and family law, so I knew quite a bit about what to ask and what to listen for. Let's just say I've had some bad experiences with some attorneys in the past and so I'm very careful when choosing one. I felt very good about hiring Kyle. This time I needed an attorney for family law, I wanted to file for custody of my child. Kyle was able to answer all of my questions honestly, some of which I already knew the answer but was testing his honesty. Once hired Kyle had the papers drawn up very quickly and accurately, then filed at first opportunity. He kept me posted by email, text, and phone on every detail of the case. Kyle answered every question I had along the way and addressed my concerns in a very timely manner. Due to serious concerns about my child's welfare Kyle worked late one weekend drawing up documents to file first thing in the morning. Kyle was alert to everything surrounding this case, and I feel he actually cared about the outcome not just the money, as some of my previous experiences with attorneys have been quite the opposite. Kyle is knowledgeable, but if he isn't sure about something will do the research to be sure. He is fair on the billing, (another thing I have had a bad experience with in the past). He does not pad the bill, and I received a detailed monthly statement so I knew where my money was going. In the end, I was granted custody and am very pleased with the outcome.
Mr. Schou represents everything you would want in an attorney. And I should know, as I am not only an attorney myself, but I was a client of Mr. Schou's as he represented me in my divorce. He is expertly knowledgeable and skilled in all critical ways in both family and criminal law (I am a criminal attorney and thus aptly able to judge his criminal law expertise). He cares deeply about his clients, the integrity of the law and the professional practice of law. Not only is he thorough, thoughtful and strategic in his practice of law, but he is a top-notch human being, always striving to do what is right and in the best interests of his clients. I could not possibly be happier with my selection of Mr. Schou as my divorce attorney. I should also note that this is the only time I have ever been so impressed with an attorney that I felt compelled to write a review on AVVO, or anywhere else for that matter.
From my initial phone call to the dismissal of my case; Kyle was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He was courteous and kept me up to date with every new development. I live out of state and he won my case without me ever having to come back and see a courtroom. He came highly recommended from a good friend and I would definitely recommend him to another one, though hopefully I will not need to.
Kyle represented me on my 2nd felony DUI in 4 years, while incarcerated Kyle always answered the phone and patiently answered all my questions. Not only was he very knowledgeable off the top of his head he treated me as an equal with kindness, which really makes a huge difference after all the lawyers I’ve dealt with over the years. He went to bat for me and got me the best possible outcome of 3 years probation when I was facing 5 years in prison. I would not hire any other attorney than Kyle for any of my legal needs in the future. I consider him not only a prodigious lawyer but also a friend.
Kyle did not appear competent to represent his client in a court of law. He arrived with a blank yellow legal tablet, and, short of a few doodlings, he left with a blank yellow legal tablet. He failed to question witnesses and failed to provide his own client with an oppotunity to refute the many damaging comments witnesses made about his client.
