About

I have considerable professional experience as a lawyer and expertise in immigration law. I am often interviewed by Channel 9, KGUN TV as an immigration expert, and a handful of these appear  under the publications section of this profile. I participate in professional organizations. I represent the Amercan Bar Association (ABA) as its liasion to USCIS for the development of the next generation e-filing system for immigration benefits. I represent the American Immigration Lawyers Association Arizona Chapter as its liaison to USCIS to combat the unauthorized practice of law by untrained notarios who often destroy the lives of immigrants through incompetence and lack of training. I have served on the governing body of the ABA Section of Science and Technology Law, was one of the founders and later Chairman of LegalXML, a technology body for law within the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), which is an international, not-for-profit consortium for technology standards. A more detailed listing of my professional activities and speaking engagements can be found at this Internet page: http://www.lawonline.biz/johnmessing.htm. I believe that Internet solutions can help improve the quality and lower the cost of delivery of legal services to the public. I have developed an Affidavit of Support Calculator(tm) to help applicants for permanent residency to quickly determine if their petitioner's income can qualify, which is available for free on my law firm's website: http://www.messinglawoffices.com/calc/AffSuppCal.aspx I developed an Internet program to help analyze quickly the chances for obtaining deferred action by young immigrant children who were brought by their parents unlawfully to the United States, and made the beta version available for free to community organizations and legal aid services helping to complete paperwork to obtain DACA benefits. I am married and have four grown children who are actively engaged in their own careers. I get real satisfaction in having clients obtain their immigrant benefits.

I thoroughly recommend John Messing if you are considering applying for US citizenship. John helped me through the complicated application and also was able to successfully have my application expedited since I was going to be leaving the country for a new job. He made the process straightforward and relatively painless.

We engaged the services of Atty Messing in order for my wife to become a lawful permanent resident after overstaying in the US. John was very knowledgeable, kept us up to date and informed and helpful with our case. It was a smooth, worry free process. He made sure we covered everything in preparation for our interview. We are now enjoying the benefits of eligibility status, etc.

My same-sex spouse sponsored me for a green card as soon DOMA became unconstitutional. John, was very prompt to return my call himself in order to get some info about the case and let me know whether he could help us and whether we should go ahead with a consultation. After some thinking, we went with the consultation. John charges a fair fee for the consultation and if you hire him for the case, then he applies the consultation payment towards to your total balance. John was very understanding, knowledgeable of the immigration law, and he knows and understands how the local USCIS office operates, which is very important for tricky cases. John was very responsive with emails; most of the time he would reply within the hour and many times within minutes. Once we filled our application I asked John about a possible timeline of events. I was pleasantly surprised how everything went like John set it will go. John accompanied as for the interview;walking through the Tucson USCIS building everyone was saying hello to John. At the interview everything went well; at the end there was a legal issue (our case was the first one for the Tucson's office) that was raised for same-sex marriages, and John got it resolved within hours! I got my green card in the mail about 10 days after the interview! Dealing with immigration matters it was always a stressful matter for me, as soon as I hired John I stopped worrying. You should do the same!
