John Scott is an experienced attorney who has practiced law since 1995. He is a former military prosecutor, appellate attorney and litigation counsel in large Denver law firms. He presently practices exclusively in the areas of Criminal Defense and DUI Defense. John graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 1987. While in college, as a "Marine Option" Midshipman, John achieved the position of Battalion Executive Officer for the NROTC unit at the University of Colorado. Following graduation, John was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Thereafter, he initially served as an Artillery Officer in various locations around the world. He attended law school while on active duty, and graduated from the University of Denver College of Law in 1995. In 2010, John retired from the United States Marine Corps Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. His most recent duty assignment was as appellate counsel assigned to the Navy and Marine Corps Appellate Review Activity in Washington, D.C. He is a veteran of the First Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm) and of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as the Chief Prosecutor for the Marines in Iraq during 2004. During his military career, John earned numerous awards and decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and the Combat Action Ribbon.John's personal interests include virtually any outdoor mountain activity. Over the last several years, John has spent most of his spare weekends participating in trail running events and has completed dozens of ultra-distance races. John has diverse legal experience that makes him uniquely qualified to effectively represent his clients in a solo practice. Having both a criminal trial and civil litigation background, John can usually tackle the various complexities of his client's cases without needing to refer clients to additional lawyers.John is a member of the Bar of all Courts of the State of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. John is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Association and the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations.
