John Powers is an Arizona native with nine years of experience representing clients in business transactions and litigation.  Clients of his firm include individuals, entrepreneurs, small businesses and large companies. John Powers graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in 1996, where he was Captain of the baseball team.  He earned numerous academic and athletic honors, including selections to the Pac-10 All-Academic Baseball Team and Pac-10 Baseball First Team.  After being drafted in the 21st round by the San Diego Padres, John Powers played professional baseball for eight seasons–six before law school and two during–in the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers organizations.  He is the only person ever to play professional baseball while attending law school full time.  John graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2004.John’s practice is focused primarily on corporate formation, contracts, real estate, general business law, disputes and probate.  As an Arizona attorney, John Powers has represented public companies, small businesses, entrepreneurs, athletes and non-profits in transactions and disputes.  Among other matters, he has: -Obtained judgment in Federal Court on all damages requests in pro bono representation of disabled client; -Advised an international energy company in its $800 million capital raise for oil production facility in Rajasthan, India; -Partnered with prominent India-based law firm to start its legal process outsourcing (LPO) subsidiary; -Represented an international sports icon, drafting license agreements, incorporating entities and negotiating agreements; -Advised international steel company on capital markets development in Algeria, Iraq and Venezuela; -Mediated a summit between a foreign law minister and a Fortune 100 Company addressing a multi-fatality environmental disaster; -Drafted opinion letters for national hotel chain in $250 million financing of multiple properties; -Assisted lead counsel in $2 billion multi-state refinancing of national storage company; John represents individuals, entrepreneurs, small businesses and their owners, and large companies in the Superior and Federal Courts of Arizona.  Each client gets customized, attentive representation.-State Bar of Arizona -United States District Court for the State of Arizona-English -Spanish
