Stephen primarily represents clients in the fields of general civil litigation, personal injury, employment, family, probate and estate planning, maritime and admiralty law, though he also has experience working on business matters, immigration matters, criminal and domestic violence cases and juvenile justice issues. While in law school, Stephen clerked with KRZ, was a member of the Trial Competition Team, served as Assistant Coach for the First Year Students' Legal Writing & Moot Court Program, and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Ocean & Coastal Law Journal. For his work with the Ocean & Coastal Law Journal, he received the prestigious Edward S. Godfrey Leadership Award, presented at the University of Maine School of Law to the law student who, in the estimation of the law faculty, made the most significant contribution to a student-edited law journal. Stephen also completed a judicial externship at the Lewiston District Court and was a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic where he represented dozens of clients in an array of legal actions, including civil actions, family matters, domestic violence hearings, juvenile proceedings, and criminal charges. While in law school, Stephen had the honor of serving as a Maine Association for Public Interest Law (MAPIL) Fellow and working and volunteering with the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP). He was honored by the University of Maine School of Law and the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as a Katahdin Law Student Honoree for his pro bono legal efforts to the Maine civil justice system during law school. Stephen joined KRZ as an associate attorney after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in May of 2016. He is admitted to practice law in both the federal and state courts in Maine. Stephen is an active member of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, Maine State Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Association for Justice Admiralty Law Section, and Edward Thaxter Gignoux Inn of Court in Portland. Outside of work, Stephen is active in his local community. He coaches the Deering High School Boys’ Soccer Team, is a United States Soccer Federation certified referee, and enjoys spending time with his golden retriever/yellow lab.
