I chose John to represent my family member and I am very pleased to say, I made the right choice. John is a very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced attorney. He is very thorough when examining the situation. He is also very thorough when explaining the situation to you and what might come next. He keep you informed every step of the way and is very easy to talk to. John's knowledge of the system and dedication to the client he is representing, causes him to fully breakdown in detail what is going on. I never have the "but I don't understand" feeling after speaking with him. He is an attorney that have a strong commitment to his clients and will see your case/cases all the way through. I have full confidence in John and his expertise. John will diligently work on your case, go the full distance, and fight for your rights and freedom. John also know how stressful these situations can be for those seeking his assistance therefore, he have people in place, like William, to assist you. William is the first voice you hear when calling the office. He is pleasant and possess the ability to calm your anxiety a bit. Everything about John's law office is how you should be treated.
I was sued both personally and through my businesses by a former employer (a publicly traded multibillion dollar company) on breach of employment contract and assignment of intellectual property grounds after starting my own company. I was scared out of my mind and incredibly stressed out. I found John Helms after calling around to a bunch of bigger firms who could not represent me because of conflict of interest issues as they had previously represented my former employer in other matters. John was phenomenal and I really feel like he cared about me and took the time to calm my nerves when my anxieties were high. Not only that, but he went toe to toe with the big corporate lawyers and hit back just as hard or harder, and got the other side to settle within 8 months, which is incredible with big corporate lawsuits. After the settlement agreement was signed, the mediator pulled me aside to tell me what a stellar job John did for me during mediation. I was lucky to have John representing me.
Federal Defence Attorney, John M. Helms was an outstanding leader in this case of many defendants needing Attorney services. My related defendant chose Mr. Helms simply for the fact that he was well versed in the process of Prosecution side of the system and law as well as the Defense side. He kept us apprised of what was happening at all times, whether it was from the Prosecution evidence or hearsay. He gave us total Defensive guidance for the best outcome. My relative took his guidance to heart and followed through. He faught very hard for the truth and justice. Her sentence was lowered due to his expertise. I/We will highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you for your consistency with this year-long case and for what I would call a victory given the circumstances. Kathy
I completed a work contract for a cable company and they wrongly accused me of stealing, which resulted in my being brought under investigation by the office of the district attorney for stealing $2,500.00 + worth of very expensive equipment. I hired John Helms, an experienced and well established Dallas criminal defense attorney and former federal prosecutor with the assistant United States Attorney's AUSA office to handle my grand jury appearance before being indicted or officially charged. Something I never new about the criminal justice system is that almost everyone who is accused of a crime must go through this phase before someone can be officially charged or indicted of a crime. Like they say, "if the Grand jury wants to indict a ham sandwich it can if it wants to," it's primarily a rubber stamp for prosecutors. Thanks to John’s legal knowledge he successfully convinced the Grand Jury that I should not be indicted on felony charges, "Grand Jury rules no-bill.” I could not be an happier with the result. I was charged with two counts of felony deadly conduct for allegedly shooting at, or in the direction of, two electric company employees. I was afraid, and I did not know what to do. I started looking up attorneys, and I found John Helms and sent him an email. This was a Saturday night, and he called back that evening. Not having to wait until Monday made me feel much more at ease. John did an awesome job preparing for trial. He was very focused and thorough. He came out to our house numerous times to meet with me and my husband to take photographs, videos, and measurements of the area where it happened. When we went to court for trial, John had all the evidence ready. He had personally made large posterboard exhibits of surveys and maps. He had photographs and videos to show the jury what I saw from where I was and what the electrical workers saw from where they were. One of his videos had sound so that the jury could hear all of noise it made when two men were running through the bushes and undergrowth. He left no stone unturned. The jury, the judge, and even the DA were impressed. I was found not guilty on all counts. If you ever have need a criminal lawyer for an important case, I would highly recommend John Helms. He is intelligent, he knows the law, and he really works hard for your defense.
When i was indicted in 2019 it was my very first serious encounter with the police. I contacted Mr.Helms and he took no time looking into my case. He told me what the charges where going to be upfront, so there were no surprises and even worked with me, due to my financial situation. He really does know what he’s doing and is well respected. I highly recommend John to anyone. He is patient with you and will talk you through everything you need to know. The only reason I did not give him 5 stars is because i think he should have a better way to see how much money you owe to him rather than calling to see because if you don’t really know how much you’ve paid ... then nobody really will.
