About

As far as my practice style, I try to find a way to win every single case that I handle.  It's not always possible, of course, but that doesn't mean I don't try.  The "standard" plea bargain offer for a routine DWI case results in the DWI going onto the client's criminal record forever.  I can't for the life of me see that as any sort of "bargain" that would be worth accepting.  Instead, the defendant may as well take the case to trial and take his chances.  Nobody ever won a guilty plea - not even me.  And regardless of the facts, every case is potentially winnable.   I find that juries are generally quite sympathetic to misdemeanor offenders, and especially so with first time DWI defendants.  I try to use that to my client's advantage whenever I can. I'm proud to have spoken at various legal seminars when asked, and I often stop to share ideas with other lawyers at the courthouse when I have the time.  I admire lawyers who are always trying to refine their trial skills.  In the criminal defense business, as soon as you quit trying to learn, you may as well quit the business, because you are finished.  When I'm asked to evaluate the skills of other trial lawyers, I start with two broad measuring standards:  1) do they know what they are doing, and 2) do they care enough to fight.  Too many lawyers either don't know what they are doing, or don't care enough to fight for their clients.  I try to excel in both areas. I am known for trying difficult cases, and finding creative ways to win them.  I'm aggressive, but I try to avoid being obnoxious, unless the situation calls for it.  Offending judges and prosecutors just for sport isn't a good long term strategy, in my opinion.  If it was, however, I would do exactly that, because I'm in the courtroom to win cases, not to make friends. I would be very proud to represent you, or your loved one, to the fullest extent of my ability, should the need ever arise.  Defending people isn't just my job, it's my passion.

This man worked magic. I was arrested for DWI, and had a blood alcohol of 0.156. I hired John Geoffredi to take my case to court, hoping he could convince a jury to give me a better sentence vs what state have given me -fine, probation, interlock on my car, etc... Due to THIS MANs WORK, after fighting for me, I was deemed NOT GUILTY!!! Not only was I declared NOT GUILTY (though my blood results showed I was twice the legal limit) NO fine, NO jail time, nothing!! Won't even appear on my record after this mans work! I still can't believe it. I hugged my mom and left that court house in tears of joy and relief. I owe so much to this man for his work. He is worth more than I even paid! I lived with this nightmare for over a year...In fear of how this would be impacting my future. Now, after a weekend in court with this Mr. Gioffredi, there's no proof on my record that this even took place. I get to leave it behind me forever. Blessed to find this man. I would 100% recommend John to anyone needing help with a DWI, or anything related.

John Gioffredi himself has represented me twice to date in a trial setting where the outcome was a not guilty verdict. The first was initially charged as assault on a public servant (cop) and resisting arrest back in 2003. The basic premise of this case was two cops, one from Dallas and another from Garland, who were both in the same car, what they referred to as a "ride along", tried to accuse me of attempting to break into my own car (wth?) When I started becoming a bit of a smart ass with the officers I ended up spending the night in a Garland jail with a fractured nose that was spewing blood and snot all over the place. Mind you, I was up against two cops with no video evidence of my innocence. They ended up dropping the assault on a public servant charge but proceeded to prosecute me with the resisting arrest charge. I called Gioffredi's office to see if he'd mind sitting down with me for a quick consultation. He agreed to meet me after he was through with court for the day. So I stopped by his office and we discussed the details of the case. He stated that resisting arrest is often little more than a bullshit charge, and that's exactly what it was. Fast forward 1.5 years. In the trial Gioffredi meticulously picked the testimony of both officers to pieces. You really have to see this guy work, it's pretty cool to follow his logic. The jury was convinced by his smooth and easy to digest explanation of the law and how it applied to the case. End result, Not Guilty! When the trial was over and I had my not guilty verdict in hand, Mr. Gioffredi even referred me to another attorney to handle the civil suit over the excessive force that the police officers used. Throughout the years I've used Gioffredi's office numerous times for speeding violations and the like and have had great success. Once I even was given deferred adjudication probation for speeding in Rowlett, violated it by speeding in Rowlett again and was simply given more deferred adjudication probation. I'm telling you, this guy is insanely good at what he does. Skip ahead to February 2009. I got pulled over for what the officers stated was a speeding violation. They said they smelled alcohol on my breath and asked me to get out of the vehicle. As naive as I could be I complied and began to take the field sobriety tests. If you've used Gioffredi for anything before, you'll know this is stupid because I blatantly disregarded the verbiage on the back of his card. Anyway, judging by the video I saw in court, I botched the walk the line test up pretty badly... in fact, instead of turning around I walked the line backward losing balance and using my arms to stabilize myself. From that test alone you'd have sworn I was hammered. I was arrested and transported to Lew Sterret where the officers attempted to get me to submit to more tests... at this point I started referring to the back of Gioffredi's card which I've had to use on numerous occasions for traffic violations. It basically says don't submit to the tests... no tests... no evidence, no evidence means not guilty. They just kept asking me to take more tests and more tests and reading from this checklist type sheet of paper as if they didn't hear or didn't care about me declining to take the tests. I became a bit of a smart ass again and spent the night in jail. I called Gioffredi's office up and arranged to go to trial. My license was suspended for 180 days for refusing to take the breath test or give blood but Gioffredi's office handled getting me an occupational license that would allow me to drive just about anywhere in Texas but only for 12 hours per day. I did get to split the 12 hours up however I wanted, but I had to do this in advance by creating a schedule of when I needed to drive. During the trial Gioffredi pulled out books and written sworn testimony from the cops and again began to pick their testimony to pieces. At one point in the trial, he actually had the Dallas cop of 20 years admit to performing the HGN (follow the pen with your eye) test improperly for

John represented me on a duel DWI charge. (I had 2 DWI cases pending). I received a very fair sentence without doing any jail time or lengthy probation, all due to John's do-diligence. He is a seasoned attorney, particularly defending people against DWI/DUI charges.

As an attorney of nearly two decades, it's pretty easy for me to tell when another attorney is not only capable, but actually talented in his/her/their field. John Gioffredi is a true expert defense attorney for DUI and DWI cases. He is smart, really capable, extremely knowledgeable, and (most importantly) very effective. When I had questions about the defense strategy of my case, he not only took the time to provide thorough answers, he also sent me home with scholarly articles he'd written on the topics, evidencing his complete mastery of the subject matter. I highly recommend him to anyone who is facing DWI or DUI charges; in fact, I circulated his paper on practical legal advice about what to do if you're pulled over to several hundred employees of the company I represent - yes, the advice was that good! I would be remiss if I also didn't mention his wonderful assistant Trish Sanders, who always kept me abreast of developments in my case and just generally made me feel better about my particular situation. I highly recommend the Gioffredi team without reservation. Thank you again for your superb work on my behalf, John and Trish!

I had a bac more than double the legal limit, first offense so had no idea what to expect, a little over a year of constant worry. Today Mr. Gioffredi was able to make a deal with the DA that I couldn't have even dreamed of! Interlock Device GONE, Deffered Adjudication with unsupervised probation for only 6 months! No paying to meet with a PO every month, no conviction! I am very pleased with my final result, I would highly recommend John if you ever get into a bind. Just understand the process is slow moving, try not to beat yourself up, with patience comes potentially something positive at the end, im just glad this is all behind me.

Mr. Gioffredi and Trish Sanders were incredibly patient and understanding as I tried to understand all of the options involved with a 2nd DWI charge. They explained what were the most viable ways of handling this in order to get through the process as quickly and efficiently as possible. I didn't want to take any risks so ended up with 17 months probation, a $500 fine, and year driver's license suspension. This was a great offer for a 2nd DWI, probation and the fines are often a lot higher. In addition, the suspension is automatic on a 2nd DWI so there isn't much that can be done about that. I appreciated being treated with kindness and understanding through the whole process. I can't thank them enough for guiding me through the whole legal process which is often extremely confusing and overwhelming.

I was offered 10 years in prison, John took the time to look over my case and all the evidence, after the DA saw we were ready for trial, because of the strong defense and unmatched knowledge John has to offer. the DA offered 3 years probation. If you really want to get the best deal John is your only option. I feel like an attorney of his caliber is worth more than he will charge you. Very fair prices!

I was charged with a class A misdemeanor (BAC over 0.15) DWI in Tarrant County in July because of a poor decision I made. I had a couple of consultations with 2 other lawyers before hiring John Gioffredi (Gio). One of them mentioned that he used to be a district judge, but I didn't care. Gio was straight to point, told me what he could potentially do for me and what to expect with the given circumstances of my case. He also shared a lot of great infomation on ignition interlock devices, probation, DWI classes, etc. John recommended I'd take a DWI class, a drug and alcohol evaluation, and complete a victim impact panel as I had to plea guilty. Thanks to his recommendations, my DWI charge/conviction was reduced from a class A misdemeanor to a class B misdemeanor, knocked off 3 month of my probation period, and reducing the time period required with the ANNOYING interlock device in my car. The best news is that I can be eligible to have my DWI conviction sealed from my criminal record a couple of years after completing my probation. Although, a dismissal would have been ideal, I greatly appreciate John for reducing my penalties. I also greatly appreciate him and his team (especially Trish Sanders) for helping me through tough times. I would recommend John and his team to anyone facing a DWI charge in the DFW area.

You know you have a great lawyer when you leave the courtroom and the judge says, "You have a great lawyer!" So let me begin. I was involved in DWI accident with a BAC .24 (yup I was completely blacked out). It was certainly a lesson learned. I knew that I needed to hire a great lawyer to get the best outcome. I saw the reviews on Google & Avvo and was well convinced that John Gioffredi was the lawyer to go with. Scheduling the consultation was quick and easy. Once the case is accepted just TRUST IN THE PROCESS. John Gioffredi & Associates work in silence. So don't expect to get updated on every step, just know they are taking care of it. John and I met once again about 2 months after my DWI to go over my case and videos. I decided to go with a Plea Bargain as I didn't want to take it to trial for my chances were low. I said to myself, I rather save the cost of that and just go through the consequences of probation and DWI fines. John also recommended me to complete some classes and take a substance abuse evaluation to increase the chances of me getting a great deal. Fast forward to my Court Day, I had the option of serving 15 days in jail or 15 month probation plus fines, and community service. However, John had not yet told the judge and D.A that I had taken the initiative to complete the tasks I was recommended to complete. The better deal was 9 days in jail. I immediately said," yes, let's do that. It's a no brainer." Didn't even hear what the deal for probation route was. In Dallas County 1 day in jail counts as 3 days. When I was arrested for my DWI I served the 3 days. The deal I received was GREAT! I had to do no jail time after court. I avoided the probation trap, along with probation fees, no interlock device, and ALSO the superfine of $6,000 was waived. I'm truly blessed and happy with the outcome I received. With repentance and prayer God will provide. And I know God used John Gioffredi so that this outcome could be possible!

With repentance and prayer God will provide. And I know God used John Gioffredi so that this outcome could be possible!
