I was really fortunate to have Mr. Cowhig as my divorce attorney. He is educated, professional, as well as empathic. This was such a difficult time in my life and not expected at all. Mr. Cowhig was phenomenal in informing me regarding divorce litigation. I know my money was well spent hiring him. Best money I have spent because he advocated for me and my children. I had a really difficult ex-husband and he was able to help me navigate past my emotions and advocate for myself and on behalf of my children.
Selecting a lawyer can be a daunting process. There is the continuing search for a balance of knowledge , character and personality fit. John Cowhig illustrates that balance. Anyone can write nice things and tell you a lawyer is great; but can you be told why? Here’s the why. Mr. Cowhig institutes a process. He will consult and discern your situation. He did with me. He will make you search the options of divorce or reconciliation. He did with me. He will prepare you for the process for which nobody can train for; mediation, financial disclosures, visitation, emotional pitfalls etc. Mr. Cowhig is a great advisor, coach, and he will listen to you. He won't blow smoke to tell you what you want to hear. He does not have a shortage of clients and doesn't need to push you to financial ruin. For me it was relax, take a breath and move as ready. Mr. Cowhig is a Certified Family Law Specialist. As I understand it, a specialist has to take essentially a second Bar Examination that tests his or her comprehension of complex family law matters, and must have obtained a great deal of trial experience and skills while demonstrating a high level of professional ethics. I would refer Mr. Cowhig to anyone I care for. You can find a less expensive attorney but like they say, "You get what you pay for." Mr. Cowhig’s office and staff won’t rack up unnecessary fees; or prolong communications for that purpose. They don't play games. Get your ducks in a row first and find out what you need to do. Leave the legal to him. Mr. Cowhig is not new to the southern California divorce game. He knows the courts and has a deep understanding of the system. He understands when to be aggressive and when to compromise. He will keep the battles to a minimum so you don't pay for unnecessary casualties and bad judgment. He is a visionary leader that will guide you to the best results possible. As you enter the gauntlet of family law, Mr. Cowhig will bring you out the other side as good as it can be for your scenario. This is not my first rodeo with Mr. Cowhig; he is a veteran of his field and a master of his profession.
I would highly recommend John Cowhig and team! They were very professional and efficient during my divorce filing. I was expecting and bracing for the worst...however, I was extremely surprised at how smooth and painless the process was. The communication was superb, they answered all of my questions and concerns promptly and thoroughly.
John was very honest and forthcoming as to possible outcomes of my case. He was always there for inquiries I had and was very efficient, considering my situation, in resolving my case in a timely and cost savings manner. He was also very fair in his cost. I would recommend John to anyone having marital issues.
I am seeking alimony relief based on several issues. Other attorneys have refused to even discuss my options, but Mr. Cowhig spent the time to go over my issues as well as realistic expectations. He treated me with respect and I will not hesitate to hire him when I decide to pursue that path.
John handled a difficult case for me where the other side was unwilling to be reasonable or to negotiate. John is knowledgeable, thorough, thoughtful, a great writer, and has a calming presence. He was always available for quick questions and was able to help me decide which issues to fight for and which are not worth it. We won the case and I credit John completely for this.
The year is 2014, I am a residence in the I.E, a divorce mother with 5 yrs old twins and I'm expecting my third child in August 2014. My job has now transferred me to LA and the commute is killing me SO I decide to move to LA. Five days before the move I received court papers from my ex-husband to stop me from moving with the kids. I went to court the Judge allowed the move and for me to have the baby BUT I needed to come back to court 3weeks after the baby was born. I know I needed to find help. I was referred by a high school friend to John. John had also helped him 10 years prior with getting custody of his son. Scared and nervous I made the phone call. From the first time I met John he was attentive and patient. He know this was a very sensitive and stressful situation for me especially with 3 young kids. John had only 3 weeks to prepare for court BUT the Judge ruled in my favor. I now live in LA. One year later my ex filed more paper work on me for reversal of childcare fees.....so once again I called John. This time we returned back to court and my child support was increase by $500 a month. Both times I completely put my trust in John. I stayed honest with him, I provided everything he asked for and made sure I followed all his instructions. And the end results were Great for me and my children. John just to let you know I am Thankful for a very patient, client dedicated, fearless and totally awesome Attorney. You Rock!!!!! Once again thanks. Happy Christmas and have a Wonderful New Year.
John Cowhig and his team were informative, professional and I was extremely confident with his services. Communication was very clear, facts recorded accurately, so there were no "hiccups" with having to modify or revise legal documents. He got it right the first time. Appointments always timely and he and his staff were a real pleasure to work with through a challenging situation as divorce. Highly recommend John, you'd be in good legal hands.
I was thrust into an extremely sensitive family matter near the end of a prolonged divorce proceeding. My current attorney was of little help and I was provided a referral to John. John brought highly professional and determined legal experience to the table and allowed me the confidence to know I was in excellent hands. Calling John was the best call I made and I would make the call again without a second thought. I truly appreciated his honesty and integrity throughout my ordeal, which by the way was found in our favor.
John did a fabulous job representing me through my divorce and restructuring of my settlement agreement. I had originally agreed to a higher than normal amount for child and spousal support as I just wanted to get the divorce over with. Realizing that I was paying way too much, John was able to work out a significant reduction of those items along with a favorable child custody schedule. I highly recommend having John on your side as you go through your divorce. I wish I would have used him from the beginning!
