About
My practice as a licensed attorney began in federal court, clerking for the Honorable James K. Singleton. During that time I developed a passion for criminal defense, and subsequently had the honor of working for the Alaska Public Defender Agency in both rural and urban settings. Ultimately, I became the supervisor of the trial unit in the Anchorage office of the Alaska Public Defender Agency, overseeing all felony and misdemeanor trial attorneys. I developed a broad base of trail experience during my time with the Agency, and am grateful for the tremendous opportunity it afforded. Now in private practice, I am continuing my work as a criminal defense attorney, and also expanding into other forms of civil litigation in conjunction with my skilled law partners. I view trial practice as a stronghold of my practice, and I enjoy representing fellow Alaskans in trial settings.

John represented me in my federal case in 2013 and he did his best at what he did given my history and charges, he is once again my lawyer for my violation and I do not expect anything but the best from Mr. John Cashion.
my husbands case took 1.5 years state and federal charges. John Cashion kept in constant contact with him through phones calls and visiting him at the jail a few times month. also John would keep in contact with myself to inform me on everything happening. my husband and I believe that Mr. Cashion went above and beyond any attorney we have ever seen. He is very knowledgable, honest, respectful, and a total bad ass in the courtroom.
John Cashion represented me in my divorce proceeding in 2013. Because of John's calm and reassuring demeanor and personality I never felt intimidated or overwhelmed during the lengthy and emotional proceedings. John was always prompt in anwering my calls or responding to messages. This combined with John's careful attention to the issues of my case during our office meetings made it clear to me that he was always seeking the most beneficial outcome for me. I was very pleased with his representation.
John was referred to me by my friends in Bethel. He's very helpful and responsive. He helped me with my DUI case and although we couldn't win, I only went without my driver's license for 30days, thanks to John! He is the best!
John Cashion came highly recommended to me and I will do the same should the occasion ever present itself. John handled a very difficult situation (case) with unbelievable patience and sensitivity. There were some challenging issues on our part and he never showed any frustration or impatience. He explained the process in full detail and then proceeded to guide us seamlessly through, always making sure we understood each step as we went along. He has a commanding courtroom presence, knows the law and it is obvious he is well respected by the judges as well as his colleagues on both sides. There were no surprises and our matter was resolved in precisely the manner in which he had initially outlined. Thank you.
I'm an Alaskan. I work hard, I play hard and I rely on John Cashion for my legal representation - no questions asked. I was in bad shape. Broken neck, collapsed lung, internal bruising, concussions….and to add to my problems - the State of Alaska wanted to throw the book at me. John Cashion stepped in and took over which allowed me to focus on getting healed up so I could go back to work. He was responsive, respectful, professional and took care of my legal problems when I couldn't scratch my own ass. Sure - you can hire other attorneys…I have with limited success. Save your money and get a hold of John Cashion.
I would recommend John to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, experienced lawyer that is willing to go the extra mile. John first represented me as a state appointed public defender, and yet he truly cared about my case even though I was not the one paying him. From the very beginning I felt that he would find the best possible outcome for me, and do whatever was in his power to make it happen. In the years of time that my case spanned, I could always count on John to keep me up to date on the latest developments and explain what they meant for me. I found it incredible the amount of time and energy that went into the research for my case, and I could not have been happier with the outcome. Several years after John started his private practice, I went to him for help in resolving a petition from the state to deny having my conviction in the case set aside. He was up front with his estimate of what his fees would end up being, and explained to me clearly how he would be handling my case. In the end, he managed to convince the state lawyer to revoke the motion without even having to see the inside of a courtroom. I would go to John again without hesitation. I firmly believe I would not be where I am today without his knowledge and dedication to do what was best for me as his client, both when I was paying him out of my own pocket and when he was an employee of the state.
I only have good things to say about the work that John did for me. A great lawyer and a true man of his word. I would recommend him to anyone needing the help of legal services. Mark
In many years and much more experience with attorneys than I would like, I have never had an attorney I felt was as professional and serious about his representation of his clients as John Cashion. I found him to be exceedingly responsive and felt as though he presented all information to us and that he carefully advised as if he were representing his own family members. Although always professional, I never doubted his concern or honest advice. I would whole heartedly recommend him and have.
I was referred to John Cashion. Unfortunately, I feel, I did not get adequate representation. I was informed John was a seasoned lawyer and could provide proper services, however, after my experience and trial, I do not have high regards for John's, professional services. Be cautious, if you are contemplating him for hire. I believe He did an okay job, however, I feel he was ill prepared and made poor decisions that derailed my life. Take into consideration his schedule, he may lack adequate time for him to thoroughly examine and represent your case. I am dissatisfied with the services I received. I am disappointed with the professional decisions he made, as well as the manner in which he spoke to me, when I disagreed with his opinion. In my case, I believe exculpatory evidence was withheld. This could have been a simple overlook, however, with his experience, I would assume that mistakes like that would have been omitted. I feel that overwhelming evidence ( that could have acquitted my case) was never presented to the jury; or if he pressed the issue in months prior, there is a possibility we would have not went to trial...intentionally or unintentionally, I will never know. John is a Good ol' boy; Be cautious. In my opinion, save your time, energy,& money...keep looking for another attorney.
