About
John joined Rackemann in 2014 as Counsel in the litigation department. He concentrates on a range of real estate related civil litigation, including eminent domain and other real estate and business valuation issues, as well as a broad array of land use and permitting matters. He also expects to handle other business related commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm John was an Assistant Attorney General for over 20 years, where he practiced as a trial attorney defending state agencies in a wide range of civil lawsuits. For much of that time John's practice centered on eminent domain and related land use matters. John was later appointed Senior Counsel and Supervisor of all eminent domain and Land Court litigation in the Attorney General's Trial Division. Before joining the Attorney General's Office, John practiced for over five years at Burns & Levinson in the General Trial Department, handling a variety of complex commercial and civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. While John's legal experience is predominantly in civil litigation, he has also handled criminal litigation, both as a defense attorney and, for a short time, as a prosecutor.
