About
I started out working for 10 years as a paralegal in Mankato after attending Mankato State University (now Minnesota State at Mankato) and then went back to law school at William Mitchell, graduating from MSU and William Mitchell with honors. After working while in law school at the Office of Administrative Hearings as a law clerk for the Worker's Compensation Court of Appeals, Southern MN Legal Services, the Attorney General's Office in the licensing division and for two law firms in the metro area, in 1999 I opened my own business in Prior Lake to be closer to my family. I have been in the same location since then. By being close to my home and business, I can be active in my community through organizations, my church, volunteerism and participation in my son's school activities. I am married with two sons, one that is an adult and one still in middle school. In addition, I am a licensed foster parent and have been for 13 years. I work with Crisis Nursery at the CAP agency, do respite foster care and have done long term foster care for many children from birth to adults over the years. I am an avid gardener, love to fish (and have been a member of the Southern MN Women Anglers for over 30 years) and enjoy many outdoor activities like 4-wheeling, cross country skiing, kayaking, hiking and biking. My Assistant Lorraine Bessermin assists me in my business to represent our clients with zealous advocacy, competence and excellence in the practice areas we serve and strive to be accessible and compassionate to our clients' needs.

Jodi is a great Lawyer. I first used her for getting custody of my daughter. She was so helpful the first time that about 4 years later when we had to go to court again I called her right away for her help. She really tries to help you get what is best for your child and listens to what you have to say. If I ever need a lawyer again, she will be the first person I call.
I am so happy I contacted Jodi Langhorst See to handle my divorce. She has been extremely helpful in this difficult situation. She is extremely knowledgeable in family law and court process and protocol. I have found Ms. See to be timely in her response to my inquiries and court documents. I will recommend her to my friends in need of legal services.
I can't thank Jodi enough for your help with my case. Jodi provides top notch expertise and service; with continuous, thorough and straight-forward communication of the process, the proceedings and my options...along with taking the leadership role keeping the other party's attorney on task. Jodi does all of this with a dose of humanity through a trying process. I would definitely recommend her to any one needing legal assistance. Thanks again Jodi!
I have recommended Jodi See many times. She is an honest, hardworking attorney who is passionate about her clients. Jodi handles family law in a professional manner but with "heart". If you are dealing with child custody, divorce, wills, or related challenges, Jodi is the attorney to turn to for help.
Jodi was very knowledgeable about the process for our health care directive and will. She advised us on some important issues that we were not aware of in regard to a will. Jodi reviewed everything with us in a very thorough manner before all documents were executed. We were very pleased with her professional and prompt service.
I have known Jodi since the spring of 2014. I had two attorneys prior to hiring Jodi for her services. I decided to hire jodi because she was willing to fight for what I wanted and believed in when no one else would. I wanted to move myself and my two children to another city just over the minnesota/wisconsin border to start a new life and give them better opportunities. My last attorney wouldn't even listen to me so that is when I sought out Jodi. I interviewed several attorneys and Jodi really seemed to know what she was talking about, didn't sugar coat anything or make promises she couldn't keep. She was very honest and straight forward and listened to what I wanted and had to say. She does her research and helped me understand the process along the way. She also tried to keep costs down for me as well and had me do what I could myself and was flexible with payments to her. I have referred a few people to her already and would anyone else in a heart beat. She is an outstanding attorney, not only because she helped me win my case but because I could trust her and count on her to do the right things for myself and my children.
Jodi is very professional. I have full confidence in her professional abilities. She is hard working, confident and efficent. She has done great work for me and my family. I appreciate that she also does community service.
I have known Jodi for several years as a member of my community and most recently in the last 15 months, as my attorney in specific family and estate law issues. I have found her to be a strong advocate for my issues and concerns, always providing options and information to enable sound decision making, and being prompt and timely in moving issues to conclusion. I have always felt that I was provided with current and accurate information, as well as reasonable choices, to move forward with decisions. I have found Jodi to be not only a very able professional but a very caring one as well. She has provided a needed mix of both professional and emotional support as I have worked through my issues. I have provided her as a legal reference to friends and family and am most comfortable doing so.
I hired Jodi Langhorst See to represent me with my divorce in August 2015. After 2 years, I have not receive one document or filings via US Mail, but only through email which were not always appropriately signed by all parties on the emailed copy. This was a difficult divorce. As I asked questions and looked to Jodi for advise as to what was in my best interest? I received some answers and options but they were never followed through. Most of my questions were not explained to me so I could make clear choices with understanding. The answers I did receive changed every time we met. A lot of time she did not even remember what she advised me to do and they never were written in a document submitted to myself or the opposing attorney throughout negotiations. She did not write up the stipulation orders, but had opposing attorney write them, which have resulted in my inability to clearly understand what it stated. I would receive emails of the opposing attorney from Jodi with information that was left for me to interpret on my own understanding. When I would ask questions, she would appear frustrated with me and I never felt comfortable knowing what I might be agreeing to. I filed for the divorce with her, stating clearly my expectations in 2015. She filed one step at a time; first for temporary custody and support; approximately one year later we had our FENE; then followed, what I was told to be a custody evaluation, but ended up being only a parenting assesment, that would not hold up if a trail came to be. All this should have been taken care of at the pre trial, but was not. She has unfairly charged me over $30,000 in fees and filings over a 2 year period only to withdraw from my case a month before trial. I am receiving far less than a fair settlement based on the fact that I cannot hire an attorney to fairly represent me this close to trial and must represent myself at this point. Had Jodi filed all the proper motions upon retaininment all the facts and mediations, as well as custody evaluations would have been completed within 6 months from time of filing and we could have been done closer to a year rather 2 years. If you are looking for someone to be looking out for your best interest in a divorce, I would not recommend this attorney.
