I had initially gone the self help route in my divorce to try and save money and really wish that I would have just reached out to Joan in the beginning instead, it would have saved me so much money and grief in the long run! By the time Joan took me on as a Client I was at my wit’s end dealing with my ex and the relief I felt working with her and her team was immediate. Joan’s guidance and counseling were invaluable and ultimately the outcome of my case was better than I could have ever hoped for. Additionally, Joan is very professional, personable and easy to work with. I totally would recommend her and will absolutely be using her again if necessary.
Ms. Loos clearly knows her stuff! A very responsive and helpful attorney. I would recommend her to anyone that needs help with anything related to divorce, domestic abuse, child custody, domestic partnerships, etc.
Joan and her firm are responsive, professional and very accommodating. As things changed overtime taking my divorce in a different direction they were understanding and made me aware at all times the various consequences of my choices and informing me of all legalities thoroughly. I highly recommend Joan Loos and Eleanor Stegmeier for anyone requiring information and consultation regarding a divorce. Should you make the choice to utilize their full services you will be very satisfied and glad you did.
Joan explained the task ahead. What my chances were. And asked what I wanted. She worked very hard to give me the results I wanted. She gave just what I asked for. Freeing me from worry that my retirement would be compromised.
I highly recommend Joan Loos to anyone in need of a professional, ethical, and solid attorney. She is fair, honest, diligent, kind, smart, and experienced. A friend recommended her to me because they too had an excellent experience working with Joan and other attorney's at the firm. She exceeded my expectations.
I owe it Joan and her team. I had all the cards stacked up against me before meeting Joan. I was facing Domestic Violence accusations, large request for child support, attempted move away from my ex. and little to no visitations with my 10 month old son. Long story short Joan knew what to do, and when to do it. She gave me several options and the costs to get them done before making her approach. In court Joan made the opposing attorney with over 40 years experience look like complete stumbling rookie. Getting my charges denied was a long shot but Joan and her team did it by over preparing and over delivering on every court hearing. I would recommend her to anyone in a nasty, terrible, legal battle. I needed a attorney with pure skills and professional experience and Joan delivered.
Joan is a great attorney! I found her to be extremely knowledgeable and had the experience necessary to address any issue that came up. She knows the family law system inside and out. The other reviewer does not know what he's talking about - probably just bitter. I have seen enough of Joan's lawyering to know she's passionate, ethical and competent in her representation.
I was encouraged to use Joan and later regretted it! I wanted to use another attorney from the firm but she was available ( Now I know why!) She is not up to the task! I have witnessed first hand how incompetent she is in the Courtroom. Ask for references for someone that was happy with their Lawyer, not anything else or you too will regret using her like I do.
She will not advocate for you in court, this was proven when the judge stated "the court does not hold people to contractual agreements" where most attorneys of worth would have argued this regardless of the fact that its' family court and judges have discretion any attorney who cared about their client would have risked sanctions before allowing such a misplace of justice to occur. Furthermore because of her inability to properly advice me on my child receiving an EPO, my child ended up and to this day still continues to suffer because of her inability to properly deduce outcomes. She also has a tendency to create her own narrative as it pertains to your case, she has in multiple occasions written into evidence what she "felt" was best fully ignoring the client and not actually communicating any type of legal strategy. Furthermore because she was a clerk as others have pointed she focuses on what she feels is experience and will on her own volition and cannot and will not look at at each situation as unique and is either incapable or ignorant or both and can't see outside of the box. This combined with her absurd fee that for her schooling is not warranted, makes her an over priced liability, and most of the work she did for me, I could have done on my own as none of what she did could be considered as "counseling". The most damning element here is that as a person originally I felt heard, I felt that my son was going to get the representation/protection he needed to be in a loving and safe environment, none of Joan's actions lead to that being the case, all it lead to is me ending up worse than I was before and with an incurred debt of over 15k, and I am not rich by any means of the imagination. The sad part here is that I got to a point with her that I was so afraid to contact her because she charges you even if you just send a friendly email to say hi. I cannot iterate this enough, for the sake of whatever you hold true to your heart, never use her, her firm, or anyone that she refers you to, everything she advised was wrong and in the end, "she dropped me" after I called her out on her ineptitude and her firms ability to bill me at will, but not be able to reply to an email or a text message requesting help, and please understand I begged this counselor for help on my knees in tears and in return I got nothing. Again for the sake of everything you love, do not use her, her firm, or anyone she is associated with.
If I had it to do over again I'd represent myself. I know I'd have a fool for a client but that's better than being an idiot! If she spent as much time working on my case as she did preping my billing statements I'd have been a winner! She was a clerk for a Judge before becoming a Lawyer. She believes she knows it all but has little to no respect from her peers. If you ask around before retaining her you'll understand what I'm saying. As far as the rest of the Law firm goes, they aren't any better. S & G is just riding a respected past.
