Jim Guse joined the Portland office of Barker Martin, P.S. in 2014 as an Associate in the firm's Construction Defect and Litigation practice groups. He is experienced in general business litigation and insurance coverage. Jim has represented his clients in administrative hearings as well as state and federal courts, including argument before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.Prior to joining Barker Martin, Jim was an associate at another Portland area law firm where his practice focused on the representation of individual and corporate policyholders in insurance coverage disputes, including insurance coverage for construction disputes. He has written articles and made numerous presentations on such topics as insurance coverage, family medical leave statutes, and tips for protecting small businesses from liability risks. Jim co-authored the Oregon State Bar CLE chapter entitled Actions By and Against Insurers and is currently drafting a chapter entitled Property and Liability Insurance for the Oregon State Bar publication Real Estate Deskbook.Jim recently completed his long service as a board member and former Chairman of the Board Chairman for School House Supplies, which serves public school classrooms in need by operating a volunteer-run Free Store for Teachers stocked with supplies donated by the community.
