Jennifer was able through sheer determination and skill, correct an absolute travesty of justice that had taken place several years before I had hired her. She was instrumental in securing the custody my daughter after almost 5 years of being denied, lied about and smeared to the courts and anyone else that would listen. She was able to cut through the delays, curve balls, innuendo, false accusations, set the record straight once and for all and got my daughter out of dangerous situation. In the end, the other side ended up giving up custody of my daughter. Several years later they handed my step-daughter over to me also. Jennifer didn't believe me at first how complicated this case was going to be and to be honest it was an outlandish but completely true story, but once the facts became evident she fought like hell. Her paralegal Nancy is also just wonderful, she was on the ball and had my back 100% and helped me through some really dark times. I have both my daughters now and am living happily in another state away far away from Virginia, and they are both doing wonderfully away from the toxic environment. The whole ordeal and Jennifer's handling of it also inspired and convinced me to finish my education and I start law school next year. Whoever posted that Jennifer is reluctant to litigate doesn't know what they are talking about. She never backed down from a fight, but at the same time used tact and diplomacy when it better served our interests.
We hired Ms. Shupert to help us with both a custody (still ongoing) and an adoption issue (almost complete). The adoption issue became very contentious because we are adopting our granddaughter and the other grandparents tried to block it (even tried to keep (read: kidnap) the baby from us). When it came time to go to a hearing to get the other grandparents to hand over the child, I was a little concerned because I looked up the other side's attorney and she was listed as a "super litigator." Oh no! Well, in the courtroom, it was clear who the super litigator was, and it surely wasn't the other attorney! Ms. Shupert was diligently taking notes of the other party's (bad) arguments, pulling up the law that was being referenced, and making sure the judge knew exactly how the law reads and how it pertained (or, more accurately, didn't pertain) to our case. It was a beautiful thing to watch! I was so happy with my choice of attorney. My heart was beating the entire hearing but Ms. Shupert was at home in the courtroom and fully engaged at all times, never missing a beat. I'm looking forward to seeing her present our case for the custody hearing and, if it's possible for things to go our way, I feel confident that they will with Ms. Shupert handling the case. I can't thank her enough for being the best family law attorney money can buy!
She is smart, understanding and patient. She stays on the other side to ensure they participate and stay on point. She is a SUPERIOR reference for the law. She documents and really goes after what is needed for your case. No case too complicated for her. Wish I could have brought her with me when I moved.
Mrs. Shupert was a class act. She handled my case with dignity and respect. Every decision we made was made by me, she gave great suggestions and I chose exactly what we did. My Ex wife and her lawyer pulled a few trick out of their sleeves, Mrs Shupert still treated them with respect while handling my case to the best of her ability. I got everything she could get me in my situation. I would suggest her to anyone who needed a domestic lawyer. She was smart, professional, respectful. I can't say enough for what Mrs Shupert did for me.
Understood and worked so hard for me to have custody of my granddaughter, she kept me calm and focused. I would definitely refer her, it has been 3 years and my granddaughter is happy about the outcome of the case.
Shupert Law is such a friendly & professional environment. Jennifer is genuine and consults with calm and intellect. We appreciate her guidance, and thank Melissa Daniels for the referral!
I have hired Mrs. Shupert to represent me through my divorce and child custody/support on many occasions even while deployed. She is a really awesome Lawyer who is always willing to go the extra mile. She is a very intelligent and knows how to put you in the best position that she can. She will be very helpful and honest, her goal is to always put her clients needs first. On every case she managed to work out the best possible solution and as a male dealing with these matters I felt that I had a fighting chance with her. If she represents you I am confident that you if you ever have to you will be calling her again. I would strongly recommend her to anyone!!!
I needed assistance with an adoption. After looking for an attorney that handles this type of case I was pleased to find Jennifer. From our first meeting she was very professional and yet personable. We were able to discuss the details of the case and make the steps to move forward with it. There was minimal back and forth over "details" because she was very thorough from the beginning and knew what we were trying to accomplish. I has also worked with her in the past where she assisted with the formation of an S Corp for me. Even then she was nothing short of perfection.
Jennifer Shupert did an excellent job setting up a trust for me. She was extremely knowledgeable and time efficient. Mrs. Shupert carefully explained every piece so I was completely confident that the document was put together as I intended. I would highly recommend her! Her demeanor and skill made an otherwise taxing experience enjoyable.
Without question the best attorney in Tidewater to represent a father's interest in a contested divorce and custody case! It has been my experience that many attorneys will dictate 'cookie-cutter' strategies to their clients, with little regard to the individual goals voiced by their customers. Not so with Ms. Shupert. During the entire case (a lengthy one to boot), Ms. Shupert listened clearly, considered greatly, and effectively articulated MY DESIRES to the court concerning myself and my family, with wisdom, verve, and a professionalism which was instrumental in bringing about an excellent conclusion to my case. Jennifer Shupert is able to cut through the bias and stereotyping a man sometimes experiences in the Virginia court system, and clearly represents her client without prejudice from the legal system. Ms. Shupert conveys a true and personal concern for her clients, and demonstrates a refreshing passion for her craft. She makes you feel she cares about her clients as people, not as another 'file to manage'. She sees each client as an individual. Her legal skills are nothing less than exceptional. I have personally observed the respect and admiration expressed by her peers in the legal profession. When other attorneys seek her out, ask her opinion on legal matters, and give regard to her at the courthouse, it cannot but make you feel that you are in the right hands (because you are). Ms. Shupert may have started out as my attorney, but in no uncertain terms, she has ended up as my friend. A friend for life. For those who sit opposite Ms. Shupert in the courtroom...my condolences.
